A little about my favorite movies of 1977:

Annie Hall: You've probably heard of it.  It has grown on me.

Close Encounters: Had a huge impact on my grade school class.

Desperate Living: My favorite John Waters film, even though it
doesn't star Divine.

Eraserhead: Not that I ever thought of myself as a true David
Lynch fan, but looking back I have seen all of his films on
opening night (except for Wild at Heart, which I didn't see at all).
I remember going to McDonald's after seeing this and deciding not
to order Chicken McNuggets after all.

Hardware Wars: The brilliant spoof of Star Wars.  It put my own
spoofs of the movie to shame.

Kentucky Fried Movie: Think of this movie as a precursor to "Airplane,"
not nearly as good but still decent.

That Obscure Object of Desire: I am going to come right out and
declare this to be my favorite Bunuel film, though I feel like
if I were more arty I would like another one better.

Saturday Night Fever: Just imagine, this movie was actually about
something other than dancing!  I waited twenty years to see it
because I always just assumed it was empty-headed.

Star Wars: You may have heard of this!  At the time I had never
seen Kurosawa's "Hidden Fortress" or any Buck Rogers movie serials,
or read Joseph Campbell's "Hero With A Thousand Faces," so this
was the coolest thing I had ever seen.  And seen.  And seen.

Stroszek: Werner Herzog made this film up as a consolation prize
for actor Bruno S, former mental patient.  I liked it a lot.
