If They Only Knew
As it would turn out Paul and Pete got sent back to England about a week later on charges of arson. Really, theyd just ran back to the place they had been staying (behind a cinema screen) and with out electricity, to try to find something in the hole of a room. They had lit condoms on fire for some kind of illumination. Unfortunately, this was not a very good idea because as the noxious fumes filled the room, Hamburg fire police came knocking. It was a very long story that included something of the owner of the Kaiserkeller ratting them out in the end.

When Paul and John showed up on Georges doorstep Georges mouth had, according to John at least, dropped open before hed decked Paul shouting "Bastards!"

"Oh Gabby" sighed John "You should have seen it, that boy is getting more like me every day"

"John why are you calling me?"

"Because Im at Pauls so I dont have to worry about the phone bill"

"Oh OK. Should I worry that George is becoming like you?"

"Oh no, you should be very pleased Gabby. He just opens the door and hits Paulie and theyre all rolling around on the floor hitting and kicking and biting"

"Shouldnt you have made sure neither of your guitarists kill each other?"

"Nah, I was having fun watching them act like proper hooligans"

"John you are a proper hooligan"

Theyd shortened the silver Beatles to just the Beatles and were now playing at the Cavern club minus Stu. So with out a bassist Paul was forced to go out and buy a bass of his own. Also, their new discovery of the telephone was replacing the letters shed get every day. Now instead every few days someone would poke their head into her room and say "Those scouse blokes are calling you again."

One day when shed gotten back from an hours chat with George (who was at the Best house so he didnt have to pay the bill) when Lucy accosted her.

"Right" she said "Who are those blokes who keep ringing you?" she wanted t o know

"Remember George and Paul?"

"Yeah"

Gabrielle nodded "Thats them"

"That!" Lucy exclaimed and picked up a photograph off the bedside table "The Quarry Men? You still talk to them?"

"Of course" Gabrielle sighed and flopped back on her bed "Why wouldnt I and theyre called the Beatles now"

Lucy pulled a face "What a bloody funny thing to call your band"
