Dear
final year students,
The
career is not only for you, but also for your family as a whole. So, one
has to think of not only what he wants to get out of his career, but also what
he can contribute to and through the career. You have the final right and total
responsibility for it. Others may help. One must be wise to seek good
advice. Suno
sab ki par karo man ki. The
student should survey the environmental opportunities and needs. The
student should introspect on his own competences, interests and weaknesses, in
relation to the competitive pressures and demands of different
careers.
Dear
my impression is that still many companies would visit the campus for placement
towards end of the final year. I have seen many people who can't get a job
through campus get one after they graduate. Many public sector companies (NTPC,
PGCIL, BHEL, ONGC etc.) have openings every year for engineering graduates. So
you just have to be a bit patient and keep trying for job.
Another
option for you could be exploring opportunities in software. I know there are
some companies like Infosys (and sometime TCS) that consider all branch
candidates for software jobs. They will ask you to appear for an aptitude test
and don't expect you to have much software knowledge. (You can see https://careers.infosys.com/infyrms,
www.freshersworld.com)
Some of the questions that I know bother you a lot. Like whether to choose M.tech or Job?
Going for M.Tech. from a good institute is really a good option as compared to a job. I would strongly recommend for that. Don't go for a job and limit your options but mind you chose only good reputed institute for you PG course. After M.Tech. you will get kind of opportunities that RECKers normally don't even think about. Having said this, in case somebody is going for M.Tech. in Rotadynamics or from a not so good institute, TCS or other IT companies might be a better option as it gives a chance to enter into software job market early on.
If you have GATE score in the range of 85-95%, then I would recommend you to check out for the below links:
FOR
JOB cum PG course
http://www.cmmacs.ernet.in/cmmacs/jobs/gate.html and
http://www.cdacindia.com/ and http://csirhrdg.res.in/gate.htm
One can also check for EFIP (Early Faculty Induction Programme) scheme if you are interested in teaching. Check out
http://www.aicte.ernet.in/aicte/fac.htm#8 and http://www.efip.iitm.ac.in/welcome.htm and http://www.iitkgp.ernet.in/acad_n_res_fac/cep/efip.html
Friends I would recommend TIET
rather than PEC for M.tech course if you are looking for admission around
chandigarh but mind you this is what I think of.
Thanks
