1. What is the difference between a
definition and a concept ?
2. What is the composition of the
universe ? What is the fluid of space ? Is the flow of electrons a fluid ? Explain.
3. Define and relate the operators D/Dt,
∂/∂t, and d/dt. Give the physical meaning of D( ) / Dt, ∂( )/∂t, D/Dt ∫ ( )dV, ∂/∂t ( ) dV.
4. Define a fluid ?
5. There are fluids called super fluids.
Find what are and how they would be plotted in the given fig.FM-1,What is a
Plasma, and how would it be plotted in the given fig.FM-1?

Figure. FM-1
6. What is the surface tension of water
in contact with air at 54°F in
(a) dynes/cm, (b) N/m, and (c)lbf/ft ?
7. When a bottle of coke is opened gas
bubbles form due to a sudden reduction in pressure. Assuming the coke is at 34°F, what is the pressure difference
between the inside and outside of a bubble if the bubble’s diameter is 0.001
in. ?
8. What is the approximate capillary
rise of water at 20° and
standard atmosphere pressure in contact with air in a clean glass tube 10 mm in
diameter.
9. A cylinder of 0.12 m radius rotates
concentrically inside a fixed hollow cylinder of 0.13 m radius. Both the
cylinders are 0.3 m long. Determine the viscosity of the liquid which fills the
space between the cylinders if a torque of 0.88 Nm is required to maintain an
angular velocity of 2¶ rad/s.
10. A piston 79.2 mm
diameter and 210 mm long works in a cylinder 80 mm diameter. If the annular
space is filled with a lubricating oil having a viscosity of 0.065 kg/ms,
calculate the speed with which the piston will move through the cylinder when
an axial load of 85.6 N is applied. Neglect the inertia of the piston.
