Prior to its inception circa in 80’s, the ECES and the IECEP, its two forerunners, were the only existing organization that were providing assistance to the development of the ECE department, ECE is an organization that serve the ECE students of the Caloocan Campus while IECEP was the first student chapter of the national body, which spurred on the growth of the community in the Recto Campus.

When conflicts arose regarding the contradictory programs of each organization and the implications of the immediate phase-out of ECE department in the Recto Campus, the ECES and the IECEP were merged, forming the ECES-IECEP had its first opportunity in hosting the 3^rd IECEP Quiz, an annual contest geared towards promoting academic excellence among its college members. It was held at the Social Hall (now the Multi Purpose Hall, MPH) at the third floor of Engineering Building, wherein our representative failed to secure a trophy. However, a year later in the same event, at the Rizal Technological College, the four-student representative won the organization’s very first award when they landed second place.

From the simple accomplishment, the ECES-IECEP has gone through a lot of changes that contributed to its improvement. It has garnered recognition from several other organizations and it has figured in major campus activities such as sports competition, academic programs and even charitable undertakings. It has been also recognize as the Best Chapter twice by the IECEP National Body, one in 1989 and other in 1992.

Being a student organization exclusive for ECE students, ECES-IECEP activities cater to their scholastic needs, foremost of which are seminars, with these activities, members get the chance to see the application of the theories taught inside the classrooms. Their seminars are provided with qualified Personnel’s whose experiences in electronics, communication, computers and the like facilitate more veracious means of disseminating knowledge, information and expertise. However, ECES-IECEP’s activities, which is very important in achieving a more meaningful and favorable educational environment.

In 1995, the officers of the organization agreed to revise the constitution and by laws, which one of the revisions done was the changing of the name ECES-IECEP to IECEP-UE.

In 1999, the prestigious 20^th ECE Interscholastic Quiz show made a breakthrough and suddenly brought IECEP-UE to the summit of success as they bagged down the Champion in the history of IECEP-UE.

In additional, these formative years of IECEP-UE became conductive to build a strong spirit of competitiveness and optimism among the IECEP-UE members and students as well.
