Confronting Lidezzem
Idriseth jogs down to the river, not even breathing heavily as he pauses beside Lorien. "Hey, Lore, what's going on?"
Catrin has since retreated her arm from Lore's since that was just a means to tug him along, but she's forced to turn around to see Lidezzem's arrival, and Idriseth's after him. When that comment concerning the knife and blood are directed to the squire, she's forcing herself to remain silent, quietly seething with her own hand instinctively on the hilt of the dagger at her belt.
Lidezzem maintains his smile as he, with a snap of his wrist, flips the knife in the air and catches it, "Yes... the life of a rabbit. Lets see how many I get before you wise up and try to stop me." His eyes move to Catrin, "Lucky the bitch has no morals. Otherwise she would think less of you when she finds out what your lethargy has brought about."
Lorien suddenly slams those logs downwards and spins, gaze locking briefly with Idri's before focusing once more on Lidezzem, "It seems our friend here is admitting to a little crime." He snarls, fingers so tight around the hilt of his sword that his knuckles blink white, and a low and almost calm question is posed to Lidezzem, "What have you done?"
You retrieve a beautifully carved, uniquely-engraved, elvish longbow from a durable, black, leather satchel.
Idriseth frowns, carefully stringing his bow. "Lidezzem, any particular reason you are killing rabbits?"
Catrin doesn't even bat an eye at being called an amoral bitch, though to be fair her displeasure is already evident in her expression. Her jaw is clenched, her eyes narrowed, yet she keeps that bridle on her tongue. When Lorien drops those logs, she's sending him a sidelong glance that also notes his hand on his sword. Though it seems she does want to say something to the squire, she continues to bite it back, focus swiveling back to Lidezzem in the wake of both questions levelled at him.
Lidezzem shrugs and drops to put the blade back. Knowing, or at least having a grasp of, the danger, Lidy spends a few moments securing the weapon before looking up (still in a squat), "Nothing. Killing rabbits." A quick glance is sent toward Idriseth, "Hey man. Oh yeaaaah... for food. I gain sustenance from these rabbits." Oddly the answer seems neutral and friendly, like the warrior is unafraid of the two he was originally speaking with, or has completely lost his mind.
[guild] Idriseth: Is killing rabbits illegal?
Lorien can't quite seem to get his temper under control, and he stalks forward a step before restraining himself, "Funny how my guess should be the correct one. Unfortunately, I highly doubt you've been after rabbits; especially if you think I'd give a damn that you killed one. Stop lying, you bastard."
[guild] Lorien: No, Idri, damnit. He followed us and basically said someone was dead because of me. He's lying.
Idriseth arches a brow towards Lorien, before schooling his face into a completely neutral expression. "Is there any reason you would think we would try to stop you from killing rabbits?"
[guild] Idriseth: Get ahold of your temper, Lorien. We can't arrest him, so we've got to try and figure out what he is talking about...
[guild] Lorien: *mutters*
Catrin inhales sharply when Lorien takes that step forward but...he stops himself, and rather than say anything as she's still tempted to do, she's placing a hand on his arm before she steps forward, crossing her arms and idly tapping a rhythm against one with the digits of the opposite. "Let me guess, Mezzedil." The name itself is spoken with a honeyed malice, and she's arching a brow as she regards him. "Does this have to do with that dragon rider? Or have you actually not been stupid enough to make that mistake yet?"
Lidezzem laughs as he stands and dusts himself off. His normally friendly eyes take a glow to them, like fires have been stoked behind them in his mind. No action is taken as the Squire advances a few steps, though all three present have enough wits and insight to see the tightening of his muscles. A tightening that could be a flinch, though covered enough to be read as preparation. A clear tone comes from his lips. One that seems a little to relaxed considering how extreme his probability of surviving a potential fight would be, "You call me a liar constantly... when I speak the truth and when I... am less than honest. You create quite a broth of confusion for me my hero..." The term does not seem to be teasing, not does it have the same sense of awe it once held while hugging the expressive nature of Mezzedil's words. "It makes me wonder about certain things. About the fallibility of role models..." A sudden hand comes up, "I know... I know... you never asked to be one... But just because you made the mistake of being a yearnable goal does not mean it's not your responsibility for it." A glance is spared toward Idreseth before it moves back to Lorien, "I dunno... I am crazy... maybe I just want some attention... You know... Kill a rabbit... look what I did..." The constant smile expands to the brim, "I have not admitted to anything. That would be considered stupid... even if I did anything wrong. I get thrown in jail enough for the way I look." The words of Catrin catch him by surprise, which was probably the intent, "Dragon rider? I know no dragon rider... I know a young boy who one days wishes to be such. And stupid? What if my only goal in life is to keep my word to you from out conversation down the river? Hmmm? What if I could careless what happens to me after that? Perhaps it's stupid... by conventional means... but I think if I succeed I've won." Lidy crosses his arms, "The only way to beat me in this is to kill me... which means I win yet again."
Idriseth pinches the bridge of his nose, sighing softly. His voice low, but far from soft, he responds to Lidezzem, "Its unfortunate then, that you have selected the wrong targets for your assisted...suicide... attempt. So why don't you just ... tell us what you want us to do, or know. Because, honestly, the cryptic comments only confuse us, which makes them rather pointless."
Lorien stares in dumbstruck silence as Lidezzem speaks, and when finally the other has gone silent the squire is releasing a (bordering desperate), "When did this become a fight? When did it become about me beating you? This is not a game... Mezzedil. Stupid me believed that perhaps there was a little of him left of you. But how is that possible? You follow us and show me a bloody blade, making me believe that a life has been lost on it because of me? What is this a fight for? Is it just because you want to die?" But then he goes silent, and glances to Idri in mild agreement.
[guild] Lorien: Damnit. Elsie's going to murder me. I wasn't allowed to be ... distracted. Oh well. I'll not leave Lidezzem with Cat, however - I'll get him to leave before I follow you.
[guild] Idriseth: No. I'll wait. As long as I'm here... you can still, technically, leave if you have to. I hate to say it, my friend, but I don't think she needs you.
[guild] Lorien: It doesn't matter whether she needs me.
Catrin plays the silent card again, letting Idriseth and then Lorien both address Lidezzem, but before the latter can reply, she's cutting in again with a cold, stark, "You pretend to have this power that we'd care about stopping. You are powerless. You don't even have the ability to annoy us enough to raise our weapons against you. Your existence is as insignificant as that of a gnat's. Now, go buzz in someone else's ear for one night."
[guild] Idriseth: Well, good. And... believe it or not, I do understand how you feel. Really. I'm just telling you, don't throw everything away to stay here, just because of, you know. If she didn't hate you for that... it wouldn't make her like you very much either. Trust me.
You wince.
[guild] Lorien: I'm not going to. To be honest, I can't rightly help with Osiris either, since that's technically getting 'distracted'. It's just ... Nevermind.
Lidezzem looks to Idriseth and then back to Lorien, loosing some of his steam. After a moment the man nods his agreement with the undeniable logic of the people oppisite him, "Mezzedil is dead. He was killed... not on the bridge but the first time I was told I could never prove myself to her..." He points toward Catrin though no condemnation seems to be seething from him, "... so the point? A point? No point. That's now the point." Hearing Catrin's comment the man's eyes thin, "Now why did you go and do that? We were about to have a nice little powwow where everything was resolved." Shaking his head the man sighs, "The gnat will go and bother someone else now... I guess he hasn't built enough 'buzz' yet. Thank you Catrin for keeping me on track." A bow is presented to Lorien and the others, "Remember... I am a liar, so no need to take my meaningless threats seriously. I'm just a gnat."
(Then Idri had to go try and rescue Osiris, only it was too late)
