Interview with Elise, the Emerald Knight
Idriseth laughs as he walks over to the fireplace and pulls a swan off the mantle. Setting on the table for Elise's inspection, he answers her cheerfully. "Sketch - he is very good with his hands." On the underside of the swan, if you peer closely, is probably some short sentence of adoration addressed to Idri. The elf pulls the kettle from its warm spot by the fire, and proceeds to pour two cups. Putting the kettle back, and bringing the cups to the table, he queries Elise as he sits down. "Cream or sugar, my lady?"
Elise gingerly lifts the swan, smiling softly as she detects the written endearments before allowing her eyes to move over the entire construction, slowly. "This is quite interesting. Uh...a little sugar, please. Also, Elise will be just fine. Such a proper title is unnecessary." She wrinkles her nose slightly as she says this, the terms obvious making her a bit uncomfortable. She returns the attention to the crafted trinkets, motioning around the room. "Have you watched him make them? Are they most difficult to construct?"
Idriseth adds the sugar, and then passes the cup across the table. "Aye - but his fingers move so fast, I can't quite make out how he does it. I cannot do it myself, so I would say they are difficult for me. And I will try to remember... Elise." The elf blinks, himself looking uncomfortable at the casual address. "He makes more than swans, as you can see. He likes to tease Eiric and Freya with paper wolves."
Elise accepts her cup gladly, breathing deeply of the warm aroma before sipping of the liquid. She grins slightly at the mention of the wolves, nodding. "Aye, that doesn't surprise me. I wonder who the two fo them take to being teased..." She takes another sip of her tea, glancing to Idriseth. "This is very good tea. I thank you for offering it to me. Your home is lovely. Now, a serious question. How do you like being a page?"
Idriseth laughs softly at her comment about the wolves. "They threaten to kill him regularly... but I think Eiric is amused by the dolls." Blowing across the surface of his tea, the sylvan takes a sip before answering. "I'm not sure if like or dislike are the proper terms to describe it. I've certainly seen some very interesting things - but it was difficult to feel so...constrained.. when Sketch was in trouble. I know being honest about this may make me sound weak but its true - when he was captive, I've never felt so powerless. And that is saying something." The page blinks, realizing he may have gone a bit off topic. "So, I can't say I like or dislike it, but I am learning a great deal. And that has great value, in and of itself. I appreciate that."
Elise says [to you] : I expected death threats. *grins slightly but turns serious again* As for how you felt with Sketch, I imagine that had to be one of the hardest things to go through. Honesty doesn't make you sound weak...if anything, it takes courage to admit to your weakness. And learning a great deal is what being a page is all about, really. *smiles wryly*
You ask Elise: May I ask you a question, then?
Elise says [to you] : Please, feel free to.
You ask Elise: Why emerald, and why loyalty?
Elise smiles to Idriseth, lifting several strands of her emerald locks from her shoulder. "Emerald was the most obvious choice. Not many green-haired knights, and it just seemed most logical for me. As for loyalty...my knight at the time, Elsie, and I discussed the open virtues....and decided I showed an abundance of loyalty already. Again, it just seem to fit, really."
Idriseth smiles to Elise, jade eyes twinkling. "Shades of green are my favorite..." He tilts his head, still curious. "Elsie was your knight, then? I don't think I knew that." He pauses again, then continues. "How do you show an abundance of loyalty? Has it ever been well and truly tested?"
Elise grins, nodding to the male. "Green is just a gorgeous hue. And yes, Elsie was. As for how I showed my loyalty....when I was a squire, my Knight came under a lot of fire from her fellow knights. I ended up being the only one who stood by her side, remaining loyal even through the dark times, as it were. I suppose that was a bit of testing. I like to believe I have since shown an abundance of loyaltly toward my fellow knights. And with some situations, yes. I felt well and truly tested."
Idriseth tilts his head, stray locks dark hair falling across his eyes. Impatiently brushing it back, Idri takes a sip of his tea. "I hope I'm not prying if I ask you to describe one of the situations..."
Elise chews lightly and thoughtfully at her lower lip, lifting a hand to brush her own hair behind a pointed ear as she thinks. "The situation that seemed to give me the most testing would have to be the one that dealt with a Knight and his actions against a page. This Knight was not well-liked...by anyone. Most of us still wonder how he joined the ranks. While the others cried against him, loudly, I realized the charges against him were unfounded. I stood with him, even though my former knight wished me to see things as she did. He had caused trouble for her in the past and, as I said, should have been removed long before this. But, based on the situation, it wasn't right. So, I was loyal to the evidence and this Knight, as it were."
Idriseth nods, grabbing a leather thong wrapped around a nob on the back of his chair. The elf quickly twists his hair back, looking less annoyed as the irritating strands are bound up. "I... had no idea there has been that much trouble in the knights. I've heard the rumours, and complaints, of course. But I thought, I suppose, they were nothing more than that."
Elise makes a slightly face to Idriseth, shaking her head slightly. "I wish I could say they were merely heresay...but some of it does in fact have truth behind it. I shouldn't speak so about our guild, but I believe you should be prepared for the negative comments you might hear about the Knights as a whole, and the ones that perfect strangers will direct at you. I have been insulted by more than my fair share of perfect strangers. I like to believe we are all working towards stronger organization, and the Knight I refered to is no longer among the ranks. That might help, a little."
Idriseth nods his head, "I understand. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Let me step out for a moment, and I will fetch my arrows." He clearly hopes you won't notice his state of undress, the silly boy doesn't tend to notice these things until its too late. Idriseth carefully sets his quiver on the table, gently removing five arrows. Setting the quiver aside, he lays the arrows on the table and explains. "The black will kill anything it scratches. The red turns into a devilish flame - it will not extinguish for five minutes. The blue causes 15 seconds of muscle spasms, followed by immobility. The green arrow causes a rampant growth of pollen, which surrounds and chokes its target. The last..." The elf gingerly picks up a white tipped arrow, its fletching of pure white feathers. "This turns into a bolt of holy lightening. One lodged in Rudy's chest, and yet did him no harm at all - so I don't know how affective it is."
Elise nods at Idriseth explains each color, locking the information away for future reference. She can't hide the look of disgust that crosses her face at the mention of Rudy, shaking her head. "Wonderful. I imagine these will all come in handy while we deal with all the bad guys running rampant in the lands. Thank you, Idriseth."
Idriseth smiles, shaking his head. "It's the least I can do, La... Elise. Take these, and I think maybe we should consider asking Sabin for more."
Elise says [to you] : *nods* That sounds like a good idea.
