Interview with Tarian, the Amethyst Knight

[guild] Idriseth: Greetings Tarian, Lorien...

[guild] Tarian: Evening.

[guild] Idriseth: Tarian, I have a question.

[guild] Tarian: Go ahead.

[guild] Idriseth: Sir, why did you decide to become a knight? Do you ever, well, question that choice?

[guild] Tarian: Hmm, why? I was raised with quite a lot of training in weaponry and self defense at home, with my brothers and sisters; you probably know some of them, Midevia being one. But my homeland had little need for such warriors...it was quiet, and there were so few threats. When I heard Midevia came here and became a Knight, and about all the turmoil it goes through...I knew I could make it my new home and defend it as much as I would my old one. Past that, no, I did not question my decision.

[guild] Idriseth: I wish everyone who was trained that way ended up feeling the need to protect those weaker than they are. How is it that you decided that "Justice" symbolizes who you are as a knight? Why that, and not something else?

[guild] Tarian: Because I believe Justice is an essential foundation to all of us as Knights. We should strive to uphold it at every opportunity...else, we become what is basically a band of mercenaries or mere warriors. There is a difference between a Knight and a warrior...but most don't see it.

[guild] Idriseth: Is it ever difficult justice with the other virtues, like mercy? I don't know how everyone manages to keep their temper around Rodolphus... he's so, so... sneaky!

[guild] Tarian: Hmm, not really. As long as your judgement is clear, those that deserve to be dealt Justice and those that are innocent is usually quite clear. Although I must admit, at times it is somewhat difficult to apply Justice when someone has done something against someone of evil...though, Obsidian's followers created this war themselves. I don't believe they have any right to talk about themselves as victims.

[guild] Idriseth: Is justice more like balance, fairness? Or is it, um, a good against evil idea? I...don't know if that makes sense... its been bugging me, though. Sketch was arrested by Obsidian's goons, you know, for attacking an unarmed follower of Obsidian when she came into our house. Who was right, then?

[guild] Tarian: Justice...mm. Sometimes it is not easy to explain. Obsidian's lot have a twisted definition of Justice which they contort to their needs and whims.

[guild] Idriseth: That poor man... *sighs* A life can be so easily destroyed. Okay... one last question, and I have to confess, this one is sheer curiousity. Why amythyst? *grins*?

[guild] Tarian: Amethyst? It's a nice color, and one so rarely seen. My first wife's hair was purple as well...
