The release of Tori Amos' album "Little Earthquakes" in 1992 which included the song "Me and a Gun" became a connection and inspiration to many.  With this song Tori went public about her own experiences with sexual abuse, and due to overwhelming response and kinships formed with fans that had similiar experiences, she felt driven to help.
In 1994, RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) was formed and became a reality for victims who sought relief from pain and suffering.  Tori played a vital role in RAINN's developement along with the help of her label at the time, Atlantic Records,  which provided financial roots for RAINN's help hotline.
Tori is a founding member of RAINN, and serves as the chair of the advisory board.
- Me and a Gun -

5 a.m., Friday morning, Thursday night far from sleep. I'm still up n' drivin', can't go home obviously.
So I'll just change direction 'cause they'll soon know where I live. And I wanna live, gotta full tank, and some chips.

Was me and a gun, and a man on my back. And I sang 'Holy, Holy' as he buttoned down his pants.

You can laugh, it's kinda funny, the things you think of at times like these. Like : I haven't seen Barbados, so I must get outta this.

Yes, I wore a slinky red thing. Does that mean I should spread, for you, your friends, your father, Mister Ed?
Was me, and a gun and a man on my back. But I haven't seen Barbados. So I must get outta this.

And I know what this means, me and Jesus, a few years back, used to hang n' he said, "It's your choice, babe, just remember, I don't think you'll be back in three days' time, so you choose well."Tell me what's right, is it my right to be on my stomach of Fred's Seville?

Me and a gun, and a man on my back. And I haven't seen Barbados, so I must get outta this.

And do you know Carolina, where the biscuits are soft and sweet? These things go through your head, when there's a man on your back. You're pushed flat on your stomach; it's not a classic Cadillac.

Me and a gun, and a man on my back. But I haven't seen Barbados, so I must get outta this. I haven't seen Barbados, so I must, get outta this.
