Welcome to Idle Hour Australian Shepherds.

Idle Hour Australian Shepherds has been an ASCA registered kennel name since  2002.   It all started when Kristi became interested in Australian Shepherds in 1993 with the purchase of her first Aussie, Andy.  Andy was so special  to us that it began a life long love of this wonderful and noble breed.   Kristi always strived to produce the soundest dogs in temperament, structure, mind, and soundness.  As well as stay true to this breed and maintain a high standard of ethics as set out in though the guidelines of the Australian Shepherd Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). And we will continue exactly where Kristi left off...

All parents of our puppies have been cleared of hip dysphasia via OFA or PennHIP, eyes are cleared of any anomalies via current CERF exams by a Certified Canine Ophthalmologist, current Endrinconology panels are done to determine Thyroid levels, and temperaments  as well as soundness (health issues) (of parents and lines) are carefully studied prior to any breedings taking place    All of our litters are CERF  examined to clear them of any eye anomalies prior to going to new homes. Prospective new owners are carefully screened prior to their receiving a puppy or dog from us and we are active in the selection process  based upon their homes and life-styles.   Usually we breed one to two litters per year.
