THE TIME SCALE FROM ADAM TO CHRIST

FROM DAVID TO BABYLONIAN CAPTIVITY ARE 14 GENERATIONS (Matthew 1:17)

AND FROM BABYLONIAN CAPTIVITY TO JESUS ARE 14 GENERATIONS

Some historians believe that the Chaldean Dynasty of the Babylonian Empire (that of Daniel's

time) existed around 612 to 539 B.C. (click here ---- remember, these dates are also speculation). If

we approximate the captivity of Daniel's Judah as being around 600 B.C. it can be

reasonably speculated that there are approximately 600 years per 14 generations, give or take

50 years. Now, 600 times 3 (because according to Matthew 1:17 there are three 14

generation periods from Abraham to Jesus) is 1800 years.

Now recall what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:8 regarding a thousand years to God is as a day and

what John said in Revelation 20:4 about Jesus' 1000 year reign (that 1000 years being the

final day). Notice also that not a single one of the people listed in the table live to be

a thousand years, and remember what God told Adam (and Eve) in Genesis 2:17 that THE DAY they

ate of the tree of KNOWLEDGE, they would die, and God cannot lie. Now, did they die that same day, or did they?

All certainly died within 1000 years of their births.

Now back to the table; since all the calculations are approximate and there is room for

error, then between the 1800 year approximation and the 2006 year calculation from the

table, one can presumably speculate that there were 4000 years from the time of Adam to the

time of Christ, all things considered. And from the time of Christ to our time is about

2000 years (of course) since much is hidden from us, we don't know the precise date and time,

and that is done on Purpose because God knew there would be speculation as to when Jesus

would Return. Notice Mark 13:32, Jesus, speaking in the context of the end time and of His

Return says that no man or angel knows the exact time.

Although it is not possible for us to know the exact time, we can know when it is to happen

by what occurs just before His Return. Of course he talks about the parable of the fig

tree (Mark 13:28) as an analogy to the signs that will be seen before His Return (and there

are other parables that use similar analogies), but the one thing that will give the

faithful the practical knowledge of His return time doesn't occur untill three days before

His return.

The only way one could know this period is if one believes in the the two witnesses of

Revelation 11:3-13. Now, remember in the topic "The Kingdom of God" it is speculated

that the events in Revelation are not completely chronologically ordered until chapter 19;

now, if it so that at the last trump (first see Revelation 8:6 then 11:15) the Faithful should

be raised up as Saint Paul said (1 Cor. 15:52), then when those two witnesses are raised

up, it will be at the time of Christ returns. And remember, the whole world rejoiced when

those witnesses died, which would imply that there was much NEWS COVERAGE of their deaths,

another sign of what era would see Christ's Return.

Conclusion: no speculation of man is completely accurate, nor does this site claim to be;

but using the Bible as a reference, one can get an idea of how much time has passed since

the time of Adam, and one can conclude that around 6000 years has passed, or is about to

have passed since the birth of Adam, and on the seventh day, Christ will return.
