A TIME SCALE FROM ADAM TO CHRIST

A GENERATION TABLE

Note: "Years passed since Adam's death" calculated as the number of years each person lived after the deaths of their respective fathers, added to the sum of each previous person's years lived after their respective father's death. If the person's father died before the person's grandfather, then the number of years after his grandfather's death is figured into the sum.

---

Noah

Didn't see any definite

age for when first son born

(Genesis 6:10)

*600 (369 yrs less

than grndFthr Methuselah)

**595 (182 yrs less

than Lamech)

950 (Gen. 9:29)

1076

If the calculations are correct, from Adam's creation to the death of Noah are about 2006 years.

In Genesis 6:3, God decreed that man would eventually live a maximum of 120 years. Around the time of Abraham's Father, the generations were dying at a much younger age relative to the past.

*Since the person's fathers died before their own fathers, the person's age at their

grandfather's death is shown.

**note that Noah's father died just five years before the flood because Noah was 600

when the flood came (Gen. 7:6). When Noah was 600, His grandfather Methuselah

(who was 187 years older than Noah's father Lamech, who was 182 years older than Noah)

was 969 (600 + 182 + 187 = 969). Methuselah probably died just before The Flood began.
