| One of the last days of the 2008 South Dakota hunting season, Tom wanted to get one more hunt in. So we loaded all the young dogs for their first hunt. Tom had not taken them hunting at all this fall, so he could focus on the older dogs. We headed to one of Tom's favorite spots, and the snow from the snow storm last week had completely drifted over all of the cover, and there was nothing to be found! Personally, I think we were lucky to get out of there without getting the pick-up stick in a drift! We turned the dogs loose in another area, despite all the drifting, just so they could "burn some energy" and have an opportunity to run in the field. GWPs LOVE the snow!!! |
