| On Sunday 28.7.2002 you could see 2 groups of teenagers, looking a bit shy, but still- hugging each other in Copenhagen's airport. You could think that they are friends long-time-no-seen, but no... It all started with an idea made up by Nir Tsoran and Otto Ruhl, two teachers from two different schools, an Israeli one and a Danish one. Both of them decided to create a youth exchange program between Be'er Tuvia High School in Israel and Helsing?r Gymnasium in Denmark. They wanted to create a connection between teenagers from different cultures, and let them know each other. For the 5th time, the program began. The Danish students sent their first letters to Israel, without knowing yet from whom they'll get their answer. On 24.2.2002 the Israeli students got their letters, telling with who they were about to stay for 10 days of the summer. We started with E-mail connection. It worked for some of us, for some it didn't - keeping in touch with a person you have never seen, through the internet is quite hard! Each of the groups went through a preparation, learned about the other country, and had several meetings. Finally the day has arrived. On July 28th the Israelis got on the flight and after few hours, which seemed like months, landed in Copenhagen's airport. After the exciting meeting, we all got into the train to get to the hosts' homes. We all took a tour and visited Helsing?r's sites, Copenhagen, Roskilde and even Sweden! We had some parties and meetings, and of course - A GREAT TIME TOGETHER!!! The Israelis left on 6.8, sad about the ending of the trip, but loking forward to next April. The future planning is now that the Danish students will arrive as guests to the Israeli students they had been hosting, in April 2003. You are invited to check our website, and learn more about - |
