                          Fireplace Memories

Sitting by the fire in a darkened room
watching the crackling embers
I wonder does she too, remember
a night so long ago.
When we were caught by a sudden snowfall.
No power, no lights but most of all no company.
I close my eyes recalling the moment,
I can smell her very essence, feel her fire,
awakening the hidden desires.
I feel her body curled up against mine
with arms entwined.
It was a perfect moment meant for just two.
A moment when all else ceased to exist,
as if we were the only things living.
My name floated off her tongue
as gently as a single rivet of rain,
slowly sliding down a frosted windowpane.
melting everything it touched.
The love that flowed that night
might have been wrong, but it sure felt all so right.
It was as gentle a kiss from the moon maiden herself.
