By KAREN BLISS -- Jam! Music
Teen pop family act the Moffatts have already
learned to shrug off inevitable comparisons to Hanson. Canadian
teen pop group The Moffatts have recorded eight acoustic songs to
be used as B-sides in the U.K.
The brothers -- Scott, 16, and 15-year-old triplets Dave, Bob and
Clint -- recorded all eight songs in one day with just acoustic
guitar and vocals at Nomits Studio in London. "They're all
songs that we wrote but they weren't for an album. They were
songs that were lying around," says Bob.
Tracks include "Why", a political song; "She Said"
written while vacating in the South Of France; "Just Knock",
a track The Moffatts did several years ago as a country band; and
"If You Only Knew", a duet with 16-year-old German pop
star Gil.
"They're for all the singles," says Bob. "All the
singles have B-sides on them and in England, they take advantage
of the B-sides. They put like two on every single."
The Moffatts have been over to the U.K. twice so far this year.
The first time was to do press, the second time to perform on Top
Of The Pops, do more promotion and record the B-sides. Their
debut pop album, Chapter 1: A New Beginning, debuted in the U.K.
at No. 16.
