Get out of Canada! Go back to your own country!” Sick of hearing that? So am I. I share a dream with a man that had made a difference. He stood up in 1963 to make his voice heard about racial discrimination. Martin Luther King Jr. was that very man, and he brought upon drastic change, politically at the very least. More than 40 years later, we still see racism. Not only to black people, but to all different races. 40 years later, racial hate still exists. Martin Luther King Jr. made a difference, and now it’s my turn.

I stand upon an audience with cultural diversity, and it couldn’t’ be more exquisite. Yet, some people see the non-existing unpleasantness in the very beauty I witness. Inspired by many things, racism is upon our society. So, are they racist, or just ignorant?

The Chinese contributed in building the BC railroads and racism was at full extent then, but that’s because they didn’t know better. We do now, don’t we? Black people were held to slavery in America because they were classified as inferior beings. They are free at this time and age, but they still get the occasional “Nigger” now and then. We didn’t know better then, but don’t we now? Then why does the term, “Nigger” still come up to discriminate? If you observe your hands, no fingers on each hand are equal in length. That’s how god made us and we don’t have a choice in things inevitable of change, but we do have a choice, however, on human equality.

Five years ago, racism was brought to my attention. My sister got hit in public with a hard boiled egg. The bruise was swollen for four weeks. She was also thrown at the very comment I started the speech with. I then knew racism existed, and it’s something I know I would grow to hate. What comes out racism? The fact that they will feel superior to who they think are inferior? As a civilized human being, I find no benefit in putting someone down just to elevate my own self esteem.

To prevent racial discrimination from escalating, cultural diversity should be discovered earlier in age. We need to get the fact out that racism exists for no good reason. How can we achieve extermination of racism? Get the word out there. BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR YOUNGER PEOPLE. Correct people if they’re using inappropriate terms.

Without cultural diversity, having the privilege of having different ethnic group varieties will seize to exist. It is the different unique cultures that define who we are, and where we’re from. Take pride in your culture, let the world know you are proud of your ethnics and teach people how to be proud too. Rise against to those who discriminate and show them the beauty of the definition we choose to give. The beauty of colour and diversity.

Just like Martin Luther King Jr., I will not rest until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream." Drink it in, absorb it, feel it. Feel the pain an individual gets by racism. I bare witness everyday to the sufferings of racial bigotry. I want that to stop, and I know IT WILL one day STOP. This dream, my dream, our dream, will soon one day come true. Yet, the dream will never happen without your help. So help me now, and let’s stop racism together.
