The Report

  • What are your observations about the way technology enabled, limited, or operated in this activity?

  • The observations the group had was that it was limited through certain requests and additions to adding contacts to searching for the right person to send the message to. Due to the reality of the fact that the team was together in one room, we found it difficult to maneuver all the different technologies without just easily verbally informing each other. The technology operated in the activity was more of a everyday use technology such as cellular phones and the computer. It was limited because not all of us had a computer and the fact that the internet was quite slow at times.

On the other hand, the fact that the team was in one room and were required to use nothing but technology to get a message across made us realize how much work we had to do in order to communicate. However, it also enabled us to think in a different perspective. The technology that the group has chosen for this lab was found to be very efficient if the lab was to take place to real life. If we were all apart and in different places, getting that message across was easily doable by the technology chosen. Our team learned to appreciate these devices more through the lab.

  • What kind of additional information or systems did you require in order to deliver the messages using these technologies?

  • Prior to the lab activity, the group had already obtained each other's contacts. However, the additional information we needed in order for the lab to be completed were the following: phone numbers, e-mail addresses, possibly the reception for text messaging, the mode t9 for texting more efficiently, and the knowledge of screen grabbing and the process of sending. All of these were required by cell phones and the internet and computer.
