FROZEN IN TIME

I am still compiling my favorite photos of all time. Until then, please enjoy these photos from the 2002 Olympics.

Michelle Kwan takes the fall in the long program that will cost her the gold medal at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Up until that moment, the gold was just within her grasp. A collective sigh was heard around the world by her friends, family, and fans as Michelle took this stumble. It is probably a moment she will replay in her mind over and over for many years to come.

Russia's Irina Slutskaya's layback spin in the ladies long program. She had gold in her grasp too, but seemed nervous and shaky on the ice.
