The Ice Snakes Hockey is an elite hockey program that is designed to give the player a better understanding of what is needed as a base for playing hockey at the "AAA", Best Ever, Junior & Major Junior levels. 

This program is designed to teach the young athlete both the skills and the terminology needed to reach their goals of playing at the highest possible levels available to them.  It will also give the player some idea as what to expect at future evaluation camps, giving them the confidence to just go out and do what they do best.  Without the anxiety of not knowing what to expect from the evaluators. 

THE PROGRAM

Ice Snakes Hockey is designed to have players practice in an environment that is geared to learning the basics with a major accent on doing it right (i.e. practice makes perfect) and why.  The method in which players are taught the skills is a major part of the program.  In this program an emphasis is put on the correct development of a skill through both the technical and theoretical aspects of that skill.  What this means is the player learns how to apply the skill and why that particular skill should be used in any number of given situations. 

While the players are given the knowledge to understand why certain skills are performed in a particular way, the player will be encouraged to ask questions frequently.  It is my experience that players sometimes neglect to ask questions about certain aspects of the game.  Through this program, it is my intention to develope the player's skills as well as have the player better understand the game from the player's perspective.  If a player has a better understanding of the game as a whole, their ability to be able to do the small things should give them a higher level of awareness on the ice.  While it this understanding of the small parts of the game that is important to their achieving success at the elite levels, they will in turn have more fun playing and become more confident as a player when they understand the game better on these levels. 
While paying attention to the details of the game is a major ingredient of the Ice Snakes Hockey Development Program, we also pay attention to the team tactics, systems and build a team philosophy.  The player must have a good base of knowledge when it comes to these different aspects of the team game.  By being exposed to different systems and tactics, the player will have a better understanding for their upcoming season and their team.  Through this part of the program the player will learn how as an individual you must learn to function as part of the whole.  Discipline and effort are keys to success as is learning to play within your limits.  These are all major learning components of the game that are addressed throughout practices and games. 
Playing at the elite levels magnifies these parts of the game and it is for this reason that the program pays attention to all these different aspects of the game. 

"Ice Snakes Hockey is a program dedicated to exposing the player to the parts of the game that sometimes are overlooked during the regular season.  I feel that all these aspects should be addressed if the player wishes to pursue success at the elite levels of minor hockey or go on to a junior hockey career.  With the players willingness to learn, combined with a solid work ethic, the player will graduate to becoming a well rounded hockey player and have the skills to compete at the elite levels for the upcoming season."
