Comic Book Hero
Superman's down!

There's too many! We need back up!

Your fellow hero needs a hand
Your best friends down for the count and hidden from sight
Are you going to band together with Superman's friends?
Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and the Flash
You've always been the Dark Knight, with your sidekicks,
Batgirl and Robin

The world still needs saving

Then, you see it, in the burning wreckage
A green glow from behind the city's fallen knight
You can see where your comrade is, you have to save him
No one else can understand your determination to save him

You're only mortal, that doesn't matter
you forget it and push debris out of the way
The hands that try to save us all once more
Your flesh tears so easily leaving cherry stains under your heavy gloves
You're trying to save your friend, so what's a few scars

Thank you, Caped Crusader
I have my comic book crush
Who taught me to trust

You smell the sulfur so clear

Now here I am, watching you with unsteady eyes
Even now, I keep my eyes watching you
You carry your friend, our hero
Sulfur fills your senses as your body tries to give
Under the added weight of his body
You carry with you as you inch from the flaming ashes

Evil can't win

I can't help you, no matter how much I want to try
You'll never hear me scream to you
That's the way it has to be

To Be Continued...

The words flash on the screen
Ending the show like the stacks of comics on my floor
Ended so many times before
Telling me its over
Now I have to wait for the next episode next week
Just to be sure the clich is still true

Good always wins against evil

Right?
