24 September 2003
Wednesday

I really have got to stop writing so much. My hands always hurt, and at this rate, I'm going to need six or seven journals for the year. But 23 September 2003
Tuesday

Watching The Aristocats right now. It's such a cute show!

I called Terri today. She told me she can't call here anymore, because Dad's phone bill was one hundred and fourty-two dollars, and mom's was about one hundred, too. Apparently, YAK isn't cheap enough. Either that, or we talk far, far too much.

Anyway, while we were talking, I told Terri about "Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas", and I was getting all choked up on the phone. How big of a geek am I? And she told me all about Rick and how he's going up North to get clean, and how they had a 'moment'. Aww...

Cheryl was excersizing, and short tempered, so I never quite got my recipe, but I made something that vaguely resembled Garlic Chicken, and we had mashed potatoes and salad. Apparently, Steve has decided that we're not going to eat potatoes or pasta anymore. What am I ever going to do without my potatoes?

I don't think I'm ever going to get my French verbs right. Why can't the entire population speak one language, namely English? Wouldn't that make everyone's life a whole lot simpler? That, and I really, really want to find The Great Mouse Detective in English.

Am was at a friend's house after school, and Justine had Luisa over, so I got a chance to wash the floor, which was, as usual, a loking battle, expecially now that there's two cats. Gosh, I hate cats. Which is why I'm watching The Aristocats...really.

That, and I'm really trying to stay awake until 11:00 so's I can talk to mom on the internet. I'm failing pretty miserably. If I wasn't wearing my lenses, it wouldn't be quite so bad, I don't think.

I'm going to ask Elisabeth if she can pick me up a bottle of Saline tomorrow while she's out shopping. I bought toothpaste and a toothbrush today in Rolle, but the Migros didn't have Opti-Free, and the pharmacy is too over-priced.

It rained today. A whole bunch. There was an accident on the freeway, because someone hydroplaned and hit something (or someone) else. It looked pretty awful, and that's why I don't speed, or go super-duper fast when it's raining. It was a wee bit nerve racking, yeah.

Got an e-mail from Sam today. She doesn't know what she's doing for Christmas either, so I'm working on convincing her to come visit me, so we can the both of us spend Christmas in Glasgow and try to find The Bigger Staff. Just for something to do, you know.

Terri said no on ehas phoned Aunty Fay to tell her about Uncle Bob in a week, Apparently, Auntie Marcie is the only one who knows, and she isn't telling anyone. I think, if I were in Auntie Fay's shoes, I'd rather have someone tell me in advance that my son has no hope of recovery and is going to die, than have someone call me out of the blue telling me that my some just died. Jeebus.

Terri was pretty upset with me for not telling her about Uncle Jamie. Something about a gap between his teeth? I dunno.

But I'm going to stop now, because I'm utterly exhausted. Good night.

22 September 2003
Monday

How these people tell the difference between their ones and their sevens is beyond me. Why they can't just write them like the rest of the world is a topic that confounds the minds of even the greatest thinkers. Aargh! This is a mystery even Sherlock Holmes couldn't solve. Or Jessica Fletcher, for that matter. And she can do anything, she can, she can. And what the hell is up with their "p"'s? Is it supposed to be a mutant 'r'?

I was thinking about things, and this is what I miss from Canada:

  • Denny's
  • Captain Crunch
  • Fake Maple Syrup
  • My Blue Sunglasses
  • Cheap Gas
  • Curtis and Ryan
  • Nice People
  • Two Lane Roads
  • Starbucks
  • Pizza With Alfredo Sauce Instead Of Marinara.

    In no particular order...

I'm writing in the morning, because I have nothing better to do. Last night, I dreamt that I looked down Sean Biggerstaff's pants, "just to check". And apperently he was okay with that? Crazy Scots. I'm going to marry that boy someday.

I'm not even going through computer withdrawl, mommy! (Okay, I amend that - Maybe a *little* computer withdrawl.) But I'm perfectly content to just sit here on my chair in my hotel room, facing the open window, with the sun shining on my face. Barring the noise of the semis that keep driving by, and the young kids that keep on yelling, it's actually peaceful. Maked me a bit hungry, though. Mught have to do something about that...

Am (or was it Justine?) came up with a name for one of her dolls, and I thought it was so pretty: Nomie Claire Rose. Okay, so the 'Rose' bit is a bit overdone, and who names their kids 'Nomie' nowadays, but it's still way up there with the likes of Shallagh and Ethan. So pretty.

I did, however, miss my Pachelbel.

So, crossing the border took us an age and a half. Maybe even an eon, I don't know - I didn't time it. Because Switzerland ain't a member of the EU, when you have to declare something, it's always a big cafuffle. Now, pretend that Steve and Elisa were Belgians. They wouldn't need to declare anything, crossing from France to Belgium. The only thing that marks the border between the EU contries are the language differences and the license plate changes.

I need to pick up some scrapbooking supplies while I'm in Morges tomorrow. I'd much rather do it in Nyon, but that's completely the wrong direction, and would involve wasting gas. Which is *not* cheap here. How, exactly, that differs from home is beyong me.

So we stop at a little caf on the way home, in a little French town. I so love being well endowed in the looks department! I love you, mom! I mean that.

Mom, you're so lucky to have Terri and Mallory instead of Am and Justine. Those kids get along worse than...than...you and dad. Or....Elisabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, pre-the getting along bit. Today, Am had a tantrum because she didn't want Justine to roll down the window. Woe is me. Aargh!

It's not nighttime yet. I'm jsut really tired, and every muscle (and bone) in my body aches something fierce. And I ran out of contact lens solution. Actually, I didn't actually 'run out', persay, but the damned bottle started leaking, and it got my purse and one of the boxes of wine 'soaked wet'. And I still don't have any toothpasre. I've been brushing my teeth with soap, which comfirms the fact that washing out childrens' mouths with soap is an excellent punishment.
<^br>Elisabeth thought her sickness was due to the eggs. I didn't have the heart to tell her that food poisoning usually takes more than six hours to show up. They were talking about salmonella poisoning, and I contributed the fact that 'Yes, you can get it from chicken" to the conversation. The question that followed was, "Are you sure?"

No, I'm not. I took three years worth of food classes that taught me specifically what kind of 'food borne ilnesses' come from where, and I'm certified in four different food preparation courses, and I'm not sure whether or not salmonella poisoning comes from chicken, too. Maybe you'll finance the call to Mrs. Fogarty to double check. While you're at it, call my mom too, and get her to dig out all my old schoolbooks out of the shed. And ask her opinion too, why don't'cha?

That really irked me, and I don't quite know why. I'm just irritable recently. I NEED A COMPUTER FIX! MY LEGS HURT! MY EYES ARE TIRED! I WANT TO SLEEP! I WANT TO TALK TO MY MOMMY! (Excuse the Harry Potter moment there...*g*)

We also went to the Patriarche Pre et Fils caves today. Steve bought more wine. The caves were quite impressive, though. Apparently, 1959 was the best year for wine in...ever...and they charge 1403 for a bottle of 1908. Yeah, they still have 1908. That's old wine. 1969 is also a very good year, or so I've been told. Apart from that, I understood nothing about that the guy was going on about. I got to taste a whole lot, too. I think I'm all wined out for a while.

I'm watching "The Lion King" right now. Mufasa is teaching Simba about the stars being "the kings of the past". *Sob...sob* One thing, though...never get James Earl Jones mad at you. Now that ain't something I'd choose to see. And I forgot how much I adore the song "Be Prepared". Although, I can't for the life of me place Scar's voice, and it's really bugging me; I'm thinking the guy is in Harry Potter, or LotR, or he's a very, very famous British actor. I'm almost to the point of fast-forwarding it to the end-credits just to check. Gawd, I hate this. Why does he have to be the only one I don't know? Jeremy Irons! I knew he is famous!

    Yeah, I'm a big geek.

    21 September 2003
    Sunday

    Let me see...

I was ready at 9:00 am. Go figure that no one else was. So I went down to eat breakfast by myself and had the buffet. Read a good portion of "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas", which is, just like the rest of James Patterson's books, magnificent. That man is bloody amazing - I wish I had half that talent.

We left and went to a whole bunch od caves...a whole bunch. We also went to the Chateau de la Rochepot, where Am, Justine and I lost Steve and Elisabeth, who weren't too inpressed. We ate, then took a 1/2 tour of the castle, then left. We went to the castle that we had gone to yestersay, where Steve bought 1,000 worth of wine. Like I say, must be nice to have money. The more of this country I see, the more I miss Canada. I mean - they speak English! What more could you ask for? That, and there's not as many pretty girls there, so I stand out more.

We had a little drink in Beaune, then came back to the hotel. Apparently, being a West Point graduate, like this Yee guy was, gets you places. So, that's great. "I'm an El-Quaida spy, but I graduated from West Point, so tell me a whole bunch of army secrets..."

    "D'uh...okay."

    *SMACK*

Aren't Americans bright? Madeline Albright doesn't think Bush is a good president. Yay! Power to you, Mad.

Finished reading "Suzanne's Diary" during the evening, and I cried like a baby. My god, that was the saddest book ever. Even thinking about it makes me all choked up inside. Poor, poor Suzanne and Nicholas.

Justine and Am played in my room from 7 until 8:30, because we held back dinner cause Elisa felt sick. So I'm actually writing while Am and Justine are playing on my bed, and I'm dying of starvation. Well, maybe not dying, but I haven't eaten anything since 1:30, and I only had a salad. So yeah, I've got hunger pains.

But we finally left for dinner at 1/4 to 9, only Steve, Am, Justine and I, though. We are at a quaint little restaurant, with an extremely good looking waiter. Come to think of it, he kind of reminded me of a French fanfic!Draco with black hair. He had the nicest eyes - so big and brown, and Layne-lashes.

    Le sigh.

Elisa phoned while we were eating, and she said that she had gotten sick. She figures it was the egs she ate for lunch. Which brings to mind the classic expression - "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is, and it will most likely give you food poisoning."

    Ta-ta, Aunt Flo!

    20 September 2003
    Saturday

Left for Beaune at 10:00, arrived at 12:00. Checked in, but the rooms weren't ready, so we ate lunch (I had salmon) at the Hotel's restaurant, then left. Went to the Chateau de Clos de Vougeot, where the priests used to make wine. It eas a pretty cool place. We then went to Dijon (yes, like the mustard), and went to Les Galleries Lafayettes (they're everywhere!), then walked around, went to see a church where they were having a service (I never feel comfortable doing that), then went to get something to drink at a little bistro-thing. Left, because the kids were tired, and drove back to the horel. Lots of driving. Not enough to eat.

Steve and Elisabeth seem to think I'm going to put on a whole whackload of weight while I'm here. I swear, I'm going to prove them wrong. The food here isn't that much different than back home, actually. Just watch me. Maybe I can convince Annika to join a gym with me. Or maybe I could join myself. Yeah! Hey ma, that'd be one heck of a way to meet people!

So we go down for dinner at 8:00. Three hours later, we're just leaving. The service here is horrible. Actually, the more I reflect on it, the more I realize that I hate France. Now, don't get me wrong, the architecture is wonderful, and the scenert is marvellous, but the people are even snootier than the Queen, adn good service is non-existant. Look it up in the dictionary. Good Service: "Canadian" Antonym: "France". I mean, sure, Johnny Depp likes it here, but his service is always good, because, well...damn, it's Johnny freaking Depp. If I owned a restaurant, I'd make sure Johnny Depp had good service, too. And I'd make everyone be nice to him. It's Johnny Depp, for freaks sake! Jeebus.

    19 September 2003
    Friday

Seeing as how I am completely out of money, I asked Elisabeth if I could borrow 100CHF until the 28th. She said that she'd go to the bank for them, and gave me 20CHF to hold me over. She then proceeded to give me a hundred Franc bill, because she wanted me to buy a book on Burgundy for our trip. Sigh. Hooray for people who make money. I'm glad I brought more than one journal. If I keep going at my current rate, I'll be done this one at the beginning of October.

We lost the stupid cat again today. Found her late this afternoon (would have actually been early evening) under my wardrobe (I still can't get over the fact that I have a wardrobe! Stupid cat. She's not scaring Jordan so much anymore, which I suppose is a good thing Elisa and Steve are thinking about re-naming her Jamaica. Which is, I think, even harder for the kids to pronounce than Jaika, but whatever. If it were up to me, I'd call it either Tirian or Rilian or Caspian. Just because I'd never actually name my children those names, but I love them anyway. Well, I might name a kid Rilian. But only if he had a twin that I could name Rafe...or not. Poor kids.

My God, they play that stupid "Family Portrait" song an awful lot. I wonder if it's just recently come out over here. Either way, it's really beginning to grate on my last nerve.

Went to school today. Have I ever said just how much I hate French? Let me re-iterate. I despise it with the passion of...yes, you guessed it...a thousand fiery suns. Could there be a more complicated language to learn? I think not.

So, tomorrow, we head of to Bourgogne for three days. Lucky me. Not that I'm not greatful, because I am. It's just...I am never having children.

So I kind of am wanting to see Dad and Cheryl - no mom, they haven't bought their tickets yet. If they don't, he's going to have one heck of a furious daughter on his hands.

Margot was over for dinner. That kid is just so cute!

Elisabeth is, I think, getting tired of all the time I spend on the computer. Aw...mom! A soulmate! How cute!

    18 September 2003
    Thursday

I can already tell that this cat is going to cause more trouble than it's worth. God, I hate cats.

I am officially in love with Paul McCoy. I wonder if he's married. Worth investigating, non? Ooh! Placebo's new video came out today, for "This Picture". It's a cool song - very Placebo-like. I'e noticed that Remy Zero's "Save Me" from Smallville is quite popular. Talked to Maddy and read Animal Instincts, which used a bit about 'Time going for a drink, then coming back from it's martini', which I quite liked.

Phoned mom; talked to Darren for a bit. Grandma wants to know whether or not she could send Canadian cash. *shakes head* But that's good, because it means that I'm getting money, which is always good. Granted, it's only going to be $20 or something, but that's better than nothing. Mind you, I am her favourite grandchild...

Am was sick again today. The doctor suggested that she do an anti-worm treatment. Oh joy.

    17 September 2003
    Wednesday

So, Am had the day off from school today. I sat outside for hours this morning, reading, and then I talked to Maddy, looked for various concert listings on the internet and stuff like that.

Dad called to talk - I was beginning to think he'd forgotten about me. We chatted for a while about this, that and the next thing - their passports should arrive around the 25th of this month. They haven't bought the plane tickets yet, but they have tickets set aside for them at a special price until the 28th.

They went out at about 4 and came back with a cat. Her name is Jaika. I hate cats. I actually hate all animals that clean themselves with their tongues after going to the bathroom, then lick themselves with that same tongue. But cats definitely top the list.

Justine and I watched Star Academy, and Lukas was nominated to get voted off! *wah!* Lukas leaving would be like Clay having been kicked off The Idol!

After dinner, I changed the channel, and Gone With The Wind was on TCM (gosh, I love that channel), and so Justine and I watched that until 10:00. She seemed really interested in it, too.

Steve came back from California today.

    14 - 16 September 2003
    Sunday - Tuesday

Bot much has happened over the past few days. Elisabeth and I took another drive to Morges, just to look. I think Elisabeth thinks I'm made of money or something, because she's constantly asking me if I need to go into stores to buy stuff.

I spent most of my time outside, reading The Chronicles Of Narnia, because I'm a big geek, and could read them a hundred thousand times over again. Am did something to herself, and so she stayed home from school Monday and Tuesday.

Maddy and I have decided to take a trup to London to cut Tom Felton's hair. We actually had a fairly lengthy discussion about it.

Terri called on Sunday. There was an assembly this weekend, but Terri and Michael were both sick, so they didn't go. Terri had a tiff with Rick, and now the two of them aren't talking.

I bought a fountain pen, which I have fallen madly in love with, and am writing everything with it. It's just so pretty!

My very first French Class happened on Tuesday. It went well - I managed to get to and from Morges without incident, except for I hate driving on the freeway. Maybe it might be better if we were to change my tires.

I met a Swedish girl named Annika, who's nice and she speaks English! She's an aupair in St. Prex. The otherteo girls in my French class are older; I'd say about thirty-five, forty. So, it's not like I have a variety of people to choose from, but at least she's nice.

I watched The Road To Eldorado again with Am one afternoon. Miguel and Tulio! Tulio and Miguel!

    My life is so boring.

I watched the last five minutes of the Dawson's Creek series finale, and I was bawling like a baby. I'm such a huge wuss. But I still don't understand why Jen had to die...stupid actors not wanting to renew their contracts.

    Whatever.

    13 September 2003
    Saturday

But I did them today! And I did the laundry, too, and vaccuumed my bathroom. When all the kids were ready, we went to a town past Morges for breakfast, to the farm that Justine went to on her field trip. The food was actually pretty good. I read a lot today, outside, mostly, because it was so nice.

I'm trying to think up ways to meet Peter Ustinov. I think I'm just going to walk over there and say something about Steve and Elisabeth telling me that whoever lived in this house speaks English, and I just wanted to say hi. No harm, no foul. Unless his voice hasn't changed at all in 30 years, and I can't help but giggle, because everything he says reminds me of, "Double the taxes! Triple the taxes!" Hee hee hee.

It was Vro's birthday today, so Elisabeth went to Le Chatel for a fondue. I stayed with Justine and Am and Joanna (Justine's friend from Paudex), and we watched Road to Eldorado. Gosh, I love that movie! After they went to bed, I watched 1/2 of Spiderman, then went to bed. I was pretty tired.

    12 September 2003
    Friday

Tried to remember the DrMrsVandertramp verbs today - no such luck. Borrowed Am's Hp:CoS CD today, because I'm a big geek, and hopefully it'll put me in the mood to write. All the reviews I've gotten for "Ashes" so far have been good, and one person actually told me that I should write a chapter fic. Too bad none of my ideas actually last that long.

Some guys came over to install the alarm system today. Yeah, because at 7 in the morning, I'm going to remember which buttons to press. These people are deluding themselves.

Went for a drive to Morges. Turns out all I have to bring to my French lessons are a pen and pencil and paper. I think I might even be able to get there alright by myself. That's why I wrote down the directions! Because I'm smart!

Am went to Daria's birthday partz today, and I went to pick her up at 5:30; God, Mireilla has so much stuff going through her head at once, it's amazing that she manages to keep it on her head. She is so nice, it's crazy! There was a mother there that came from Ireland, and she has an aupair as well, and she gave me their number, because the aupair came to Switzerland to study English. See, that's me taking the initiative!

Justine and Am both had friends spend the night, and the house was crazy-noisy. I love it at night, when there's peace and quiet.

I forgot to change my sheets tonight, but oh well.

    11 September 2003
    Thursday

Read Beautiful World today. I'm still amazed at what Cinnamon can do. The way she weaves words together is admirable, and the plot was just - gah! I cried and cried and cried and...well, you get the picture. There's just not enough words - and even if there were, they wouldn't be effective enough. Then I sent an e-mail to the Armchair Slash group saying just that. I finished the Roleplay, too, and checked out some Johnny/Orli RPS, my new passion *giggle, giggle*.

I'm sitting outside right now on the verandah (and I know that looks wrong, but I don't know how to fix it) with Am, who I convinced to play her Gameboy outside, because I know the fresh air will do her good. I'm convinced that she needs to eat more fruits with natural sugars. She played outside on her bike with Justine and Margot. Maybe she'll have a good night sleep tonight.

We're bonding over Eminem. How wrong is that - that she has no idea what the words mean, so we can listen to it. Gotta love white boy rap. She recognized that it was Eminem, too. Girl's got taste. might also be the Aerosmith guitar riff, too.

Mom called today. Came back from Mr. Doctor and apparently, she has a cyst, too. Hereditary, I tell you. We yakked for a while, about me being socially inepr and reading too much Harry Potter (as if there could be such a thing!), and about The Vacation From Hell. Apparently, her MSN doesn't work, so she's getting Rod to look at it (I guess, actually, that it would be Darren that's getting Rod to look at it).

Note to self: Give mom suggestions for gifts.

1: Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head
    2: David Bowie - Heathen
    3: Indochine's latest album
    4: HTML for Dummies
5: Anything - Absolutely Anything Harry Potter related (like the soundtracks)
6: Or you could just give me money
7: An iRewards card for me, and a gift certificate so I can order online
8: Star Trek:TNG DVD's. But not season two, because I hate that bit...I mean...that cow Pulaski.
    9: Ooh! Ooh! Nemesis! (Data...*sob*)

I'll think of more suggestions later.

I've decided to get a tattoo. It's going to say Irresistible charm in Japanese, and it's going to be on the right side of my spine on my lower back.

Ooh! Just looked at the Alps, and I can see Mont Blanc today! And clear, too! Time to find the camera. Author's Note: Found camera, whose batteries had gone ker-plop, like the bad guys on Batman.

Talked to Cheryl on the phone, and Maddy online. Having tooth problems, poor girl. But I got to be all fangirly, which is ultry-super cool. Oh, and I found out that Peter Ustinov did the voices of Prince John and King Richard in Disney's Robin Hood. How much cooler could the guy be? "Double the taxes! Triple the taxes!

That's about it. I'm fairly tired now, so I'm going to cry a bit more about Beautiful World, wish I had the Dixie Chicks CD and fall asleep to dreams of their pure and t00by love, while listening to Christmas Carols.

    Le sigh...

    10 September 2003
    Wednesday

The power went out twice early this morning, about 2 and 4 am. Woke me up each time because my stupid TV is so loud. Whatever.

Wrote a drabble last night (please excuse the graphic nature, mom). I really wanted to write some H/D, and this is what came to mind.

    Dreams
    100 words

    Harry dreamt.

In the first dream, they exchanged furtive glances.

In the second dream, they had to set boundaries.

In the third dream, they explored each other tentatively.

In the fourth dream, caution was thrown to the wind, and he was taken fast and rough against the cold stone wall, green eyes pooling with tears of finalty, but never regret.

    The dreams stopped.

The day after, he felt a pair of eyes staring at the back of his head. He turned around, and saw a familiar smirk, grey orbs seeing into the very depths of his soul.

    Their first furtive glance.

I thought it was cute. Well, besides the part about being taken against the stone wall. You know.

Last night, I dreamt that Corry and I went to the Pita Pit, and the guy who played Eric Matthews on BMW jumped up from behind the counter and said, "How may I help you?" I burst into hysterical laughter, and was rolling on the floor, clutching my stomach. It was great!

I find myself wondering why there are so many slashable Will and Jacks. Will Turner and Jack Sparrow. Will Truman and Jack (of "Just Jack"). Will and Jack from TAR. I know there's more...do you think there's a reason for that?

Found a S/D roleplaying H/D smutlet (on Cinnamon's LJ). I'm a bad, bad, horrible person with a mind that's too dirty for my own good. I don't know what's more exciting; that it's S/D, or that they roleplay H/D! Dirty, dirty, dirty. Hee hee!

Elisa and I went to the shopping center past Nyon today. We went into one of the clothing stores, and my God, it was like stepping back into the eighties. I've never seen anything quite as scary in my life.

Tried to find an open post office. I imagine it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I did spend most of the day on the computer - legitimately. I was looking for cheap flights and hotel rooms, pricing out our Europe vacation, cutting Italy out of the picture, which saved about $800 total. I also checked about guided tours - which would, I think, be the best bet for London. Maddy can, I think, point us in the right direction for Paris. Speaking of which, she wants to come to the Louvre with us. Hey, why not? Someone to talk to about my favourite subject - Harry and Draco! (Yeah, mom, I see you rolling your eyes.)

So, the rough estimate for plane tickets for all of us is $600. I hope my work visa comes soon. We got the confirmation in the mail today, but the actual visa is (apparently) being sent by City Hall.

Elisa made squash soup today. We had that (and cheese) for supper. I don't think my body likes squash so much, because I was sick during the night. Not enough to throw up, but still.

I went to bed early, becuase I had a splitting headache and a stomach ache.

    Tuesday

Because of Justine'd field trip yesterday, she didn't have to go to school this morning. So one of her friends, Louisa, came over today and played. It was almost like having no kids around! I reached 300 posts today on FAP! I am going to be t00by and make my own avatar. Or Ron and Harry. And dedicate it to Maddy, whose fics make me yquee with delight, and in anticipation of the Prefects Bathroom scene. Wibble.

I typed up my journal entries, and have found a newfound conviction to keep up with my entries. I don't quite know what that conviction is, but it's there nonetheless.

Am and I went to the bookstore today, and I bought a map of Switzerland and PoA. In paperback. Not trade paper, paperback. And I paid the equivalent of $20 CAD for it. But now I have my own copy, and I can make Slasher's Coven notes in it, lend it to random people on the street, and convert them to the slashdom. The more the merrier! And that makes it all better. I promise.

I don't know what I'm going to do for the premier of PoA. I am very seriously (hee hee hee) thinking of flying up to the UK to catch it where there are more people like me. Or maybe starting a thread of FAP asking if there's anyone else in Switzerland that is up to playing the Draco Malfoy Drinking Game. Because that would be no fun alone.

I wrote to TD and RBC about applying for a Visa while abroad. I really hope my work visa comes through soon...like tomorow would be good. I might have to go into UBS and apply in person so I can explain to them that even though I get only 700 CHF per month, it's practically all profit. Tomorrow is another day.

Sorry, mom, the computer was calling my name today - actually, someone was talking to me, and it kept making that annoying beeping noise, so I had to answer.

    So. Tired. Must. Bed.

    Monday

Be proud of me, mom! When I got up today, I decided to do something productive. As a result, from 8:00 until 11:00, I cleaned house. I vaccuumed every floor, then I filled a bucket with water and special soap, and got down on my hands and knees and hand scrubbed about 2800 square feet of marble flooring. I then windexed every glass surface in the house, and washed the sliding glass dors that open onto the verandah (which were gross), ao now we can actually see outside. Then I cooked lunch for Am and I (Justine had a field trip).

So Terri calls me at 3:00 her time - her doctor has her on birth control, and she called from the bathroom floor, because I'm the closest thing to mom or dad that was awake. So go ahead, call Switzerland.

After I drove Am back to school, I went shopping and took some well-deserved "me time", and read all about Harry and Draco and their trials and tribulations in Cinnamon's Beneath You, in which Draco takes Harry's journal and stuffs it down his pants. Submitted Leaves to TDA; hope it was the right copy.

We had sushi for dinner, and it was far better than any in Canada. Must be the close proximity to Japan. I also made instant mashed potatoes which tasted...well, they tasted like instant mashed potatoes. Blechy.

I need to change my sheets on the 12th. Let's hope I remember. If not, remind me.

Tomorrow, I'm going to do the Visa thing, and e-mail Teri a list of things that I need Cheryl and Dad to bring. I need to include Tylenol. Because dammit, I can't live without my pain killers.

The doctor thinks Terri has a cyst. She had to drink a lot of water and have an ultrasound. We'll see.

Bring on the rain. I have writer's block. Where is my muse?

    Sunday

Shazz sent Leaves back! It brought a lump to his throat! I'm so happy that I can write. I had tears in my eyes as I was reading his proofread message, and I smiled so much that my cheeks hurt. I really want Mom to read it, too. Jen and Terri have both said it was good, and I hope Mom does, too.

I have bug bites all over my arms because of the stupid noseeums that come in when my bedroom window's open. They itch like a mother.

Steve and Elisa have suggested that Dad, Cheryl and I take Easyjet to Paris, then take an airport bus or the metro to our hotel, then metro it. We can stay there for a while, then fly Easyjet to either Milan or Venice. Don't know what I'm going to do about Germany, though.

I'm going to go on the Visa website tomorrow, and see what I can do about getting one of those suckers. The sooner, the better, I think; that way, I can book hotels without worrying about inconveniencing Dad and Cheryl.

I'm seriously considering going to either Russia or Prague for Christmas. I have these visions of me in my Vicky Esplenhat and scarf, walking around snow covered St. Petersburg. Just so I can say that I did it. If that doesn't work, somewhere in the UK is also a good bet. Maybe visit Nottingham. So I can whistle the Robin Hood theme and have everyone throw potatoes (or whatever it is that they throw there). I really need to start making plans.

Went to Geneva today - it's about the size of Burnaby. We drove around and say the UN, the WHO, the RC and lots of different political stuff. Had an anniversary dinner at a Chinese place, because it's Steve and Elisa's 13th anniversary tomorrow. They were talking about going to Prague for Christmas, but I don't know if I'm included in that one. Ah well.

I should talk to Hayley and see about visiting. Same with Maddy. And maybe Talyn too, because it's close. Elisabeth really wants to go to Australia. Perhaps I can persuade her to take that trip with me. Now that would be cool.

Got a letter from Sama today, and e-mailed her back. She named her cat Maxwell House. So cute.

The fire on OK Mt. is still out of control. Should read up on that tomorrow, too.

    Le sigh.

    3-6 September 2003
    Wednesday - Saturday

Woke up at 4 am because the wind was so loud - I actually had to close my window, and I hate sleeping with my window closed.

So, yeah, I was tired by the time 7 rolled around. Could barely get out of bed (though how that's different from other days, I have yet to figure out). We had a fairly uneventful morning - Am was actually in a fairly good mood. I talked to Tina again, and we played Freecell.

I really can't remember what I did between the third and the sixth, because I was too tired at the end of the day (yes, I'm a horrible person), but the days themselves were fairly uneventful. I spent much of my time on the computer, reading and replying to e-mails, and I actually finished "After The End".It was one of the best fics I've ever read, on par with the DT and IP. I laughed. I cried. I got angry at Draco (never thought that'd happen), then felt sorry for the little git, and it was just so effing touching.

Dad and Cheryl have decided to definitely come, and I, apparently, have to take them to the Louvre and to the Berlin Wall and to Venice, and to see a whole whackload of castles. And money grows on trees, pigs fly, and cows dance the can-can.

We went for pizza in Rolle, and it was the best pizza I've ever tasted. Will have to take Dad and Cheryl there sometime.

I sent Leaves to Shazz, because he is my Harry Potter bonding - no, not bondage - freak. Hoping he likes it.

    Like I said, uneventful.

    2 September 2003
    Tuesday

Talked to Tina bright and early this morning. Then I got hooked on another fic by Arabella and Zsenya, "After The End". I tried to leave the computer, I really did, I swear. I kept saying, "After this chapter...after this chapter...", except for I never for to a spot where I could stop. So, sooner than I expected, it was 1/4 to 3, and I had to go pick up Am and Justine. I am so counter-productive.

I drove then to Lara and Daria's house, which was a whole four blocks away, so I yould know where to pick them up after. So, I went home and continued reading, pausing only long enough to take some hamburger our of the freeyer for dinner. But 6:00 rolled around, and I had to go get Am and Justine. What I really wanted to do, though, was find out whether or not Ginny's Wolfsbane potion worked.

Got home and they started watching Papillion (not the Devil's Island movie), and I went to the store to get some kidney beans for dinner, but Migros was closed, and when I got back, Steve was home, and he told me that they had decided to go out for dinner (and if that wasn't a run-on sentence, I don't know what is). So, we all went to Malakoff's for malakoffs, a cheese puff thing, and forsook my chili.

Oh, when I went to pick up Am and Justine, Lara and Daria's mom invited me in for coffee, and we had a long chat about schooling and career options. That woman is definitely dancing to the beat of a different drum.

We got back from Malakoff's, and I went on the computer for a while, then went to bed and wrote a Ginny thing (can't seem to write much besides Draco/Ginny lately), and then fell asleep to Sarah Brightman.

    1 September 2003
    Monday

I really need to stop starting new novel-length fics. Last time I did this, it was with that wonderful 66-chapter story, "Draco Malfoy and His Unknown Fate". Then I started re-reading "Draco Dormiens". Not a good thing when I'm supposed to be cleaning. But I started "Rising from Ashes", and I'm really inclined to agree with Shayy on this one. My attention is so captivated that I'm almost done, ad the only reason I'm not still reading is because Elisa needed the computer room. I might just have to finish re-reading DD, because I can hardly remember what happened.

Regardless, I did vaccuum and mop and Swiffer today - I tell you, I've never seen a layer of dust so think as the one that was on the hardwood floors. Cheryl and Grandma would have died. Then come back from the grave to clean it.

I made a make-shift stirfry with rice for lunch. Everyone here really likes my cooking, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Maybe because it's a change from all that pasta? It can't all be that good. Not that I'm complaining - they could be like Sarah and hate everything.

Am and Justine had a bath, and the bathroom looked like a typhoon had hit. I don't think they actually got any of the water in the tub. It was all on the floor. Jeesh.

Steve left for Paris today. He gets back tomorrow, then Elisa leaves and comes back Thursday night. Busy people. She had to take a Swedish bang calles 'Play' to dinner tonight. Picked them up from the GVA, even. I wish I was famous.

Speaking of the GVA, I talked to Dad today. Apparently, he and Cheryl can fly here and back for less than $2000.00. Which is pretty good for two people return, considering I spent $900 on my one way ticket. But this means that he's at least seriusly considering it. Of course, there are things to consider, such as whether or not he can get the time off, or a babysitter. But it's Switzerlnd. If you have to take the kids to the local homeless shelter for two weeks, for the sake of all that is holy and righteous, DO IT!

I should plan an agenda, just in case.

Got an e-mail from mom today. I think she's bitter. And because I know she's reading this: But I love you, and you're house is a pretty cool place to be, too.

So, I'm just going to listen to Sarah Brightman and fall asleep.
