BLENDING ESSENTIAL OILS
The concept of aroma 'notes' comes from the fragrance industry.
Top notes are Essential oils that are the most volatile. They evaporate the quickest and is the major note that strikes you when you smell a perfume. MIDDLE NOTES are Essential oils that are moderately volatile and BASE NOTES are the slowest to evaporate. BASE NOTES are used to 'hold back' the more volatile top and middle notes, increasing the time the blend will last.
| TOP NOTES | Are essential
oils that are more volatile and evaporate quickly. They are uplifting,
refreshing and emotionally stimulating.
Bergamot, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Tea Tree. |
| MIDDLE NOTES | Are essential
oils that have a medium evaporation. They are fragrant, harmonizing
and emotionally balancing.
Geranium, Lavender, Rosemary, Cypress, Sweet Marjoram. |
| BASE NOTES | Are essential
oils that are the least volatile and linger the longest. They are
calming, sedating, heavy and grounding.
Frankincense, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang. |

strong sedative effect on the nervous system. Sweet citrus scent.
Blends well with most oils. Stimulates appetite.
CAUTION: May increase
sun photo sensitivity. Do not use before exposure to sun. Could be
irritating to sensitive skin.
