Ice Castles 2008 will be a day rich with the Arts and Sciences of our fair realm. All artisans and Patrons of the arts are invited to come and join us.
There will be three A&S Competitions:The Novice competition is being hosted by Black Diamond's Order of the Silver Crocus, and will be judged by members of the Order who are present for the event.
We will be having a meet and greet for Patrons of the Arts to talk with our artisans, and to offer them encouragement. Any member of at least one Art Order (Society, Kingdom, or Barony) may be a Patron. Patrons are asked to bring tokens and comment cards to the event, and to wear the regalia of their Order(s).
We will be hosting an Artisans Row at Ice Castles this year. Space will be available for artisans to bring their work in progress, and to work together in company with other artisans through all or part of the day. This will be a very casual setting, and we hope to have a refreshment table in Artisans Row. If you are planning to bring work to the event, please contact the A&S Coordinator, Lady Tangwystl verch Gruffydd ap Cynan, ([email protected]) as far before the event as possible so we can arrange to have tables, chairs, space, etc, available. All sorts of A&S can be done in Artisans Row, and we hope to see a wide variety of projects in progress.
Speaking of Artisans Row, we are hoping to have a refreshment table. We would like this to be a potluck affair, with appetizers, snacks, and finger-friendly desserts, with something to drink. If anyone would like to contribute to this project, please contact the A&S Coordinator, Lady Tangwystl verch Gruffydd ap Cynan, ([email protected]), so we can plan this. Bringing something on the day of the event is great, too.
All performance artists are invited and encouraged to come and perform at Artisans Row during the event. Singers, musicians, storytellers, dancers, and performers of all sorts are welcome! Space will be available adjoining Artisans Row for performances, and performers will be welcome to entertain during the evening Feast. Also, any wandering minstrels, jugglers, or other performers are welcome to wander through the site to entertain the masses.
Space will be available to display A&S projects of all sorts which are not entered in the competitions listed above. If your project is large, or requires special set-up arrangements, please contact the A&S Coordinator, Lady Tangwystl verch Gruffydd ap Cynan, ([email protected]).
We would like to offer A&S classes during the day, and need artisans who are willing to prepare and teach the classes. If you would like to teach a class at Ice Castles, please contact the A&S Coordinator, Lady Tangwystl verch Gruffydd ap Cynan, ([email protected]).
We would like to remind everyone that certain martial activities are also A&S. Armorers, weaponsmiths, and other related artisans are encouraged to take part in Artisans Row, the open displays, and the classes. Please share your martial-related arts with the populace!
