Welcome to all potential Ice Bats.  Here is a delineation of what it costs to participate in the AHA:

Joining the league:  registration fees vary from $365 to $415 depending on how early you register.  If you have not skated on an AHA team before, you must participate in an evaluation skate, which costs $20.  More information can be found at the
AHA homepage.

Ice Time Costs:  we do try to have about one practice a week.  We may or may not end up booking ice along with the Muskies, another AHA team, in order to save some cash and be sure that we have enough participants.  Last year, practice time ended up costing between 7 and 13 dollars per person, per session.  Rather than collecting cash each week, I prefer to pay for the ice out of the "Bat Account" and then collect reimbursement checks at the end of each month.  Practice is optional.

Equipment Costs:  We're going with BLACK equipment (helmet and breezers-- gloves and skates and sticks can be whatever color you want).  If you need new items, check out hockey giant ASAP as they have some good sales.  Breezers and helmet w/ cage are about 40 dollars each...  elbow pads are around 15-30 dollars, etc.  Some Bats have extra equipment they might be willing to sell or lend to you.  Socks are 10 bucks a pair.

Jerseys:  Our jersey last year cost us 118.20.  We're ordering new "home" jerseys, identical except for the color, so I'm assuming they'll cost about the same.  We take the total cost of the jerseys and divide them out evenly so no one pays more just because they have a long name or a double-digit number.  There are 2 unused road jerseys which we bought last year in anticipation of adding new players this year.  One is #3, the other is #5.  Both, I believe, are XL.  Additionally, there are a few ex-Bats who are interested in selling their jerseys to new players.  I'll check with them to see what they want to do and how much they'd charge.  The jerseys were worn for all of seven games, so they're in like-new condition.   Returning players have to have matching uniforms by the end of October, new players must do so by the end of January.  We have to order jerseys all at once, however, so it's best to go along with the group.

This is just to give a general idea of the potential costs faced by an AHA player.  More information will be provided at the August 19th practice skate, held at Breck arena at 9:15 PM. We hope to see you there!
