Zachary Tylers Birth
My DH and I met in 1982...we started dating in 1993 and got married in 1996. We started trying to concieve right away with no success...I was only 23 so the doctors told us to just be patient, that it would take time and within a year I should be having our first baby...how wrong they were.

In 2000 we finally saw a doctor who said there was a problem with me, due to an accident when I was a child and the trauma caused by it, I was not ovulating...we were going to need to try something to see if we could stimulate my cycle. In April was round one -- nothing, in May round 2 --- nothing; in June round 3 -- and something! We waited until July 13 for the results of my blood work -- and the HcG was on its way up! We were so ecstatic! The pregnancy was very normal, just really bad morning sickness that resulted in a total loss of 37 pounds. I was due 3-22-01 doctor decided to induce me on 3-24-01 due to some medical reasons...here is our birth story...

At 6 am March 24, 2001 we arrived at the hospital and got checked in, they strapped me to the monitor and low and behold I had been having contractions for a while and did not know it. I was almost at a 4cm at that time. Doctor came in at 7:25 and broke my water, he saw light green fluid so we knew we had meconium (sp) in the fluid. I started to feel the contractions then, they were about 6 min apart. I progressed to a 5 around 9 am, doctor decided to start pitocin...they started the pitocin around 10am and by 11:30 i asked for my epidural...I love my epidural man, but he turned it up to high and labor stalled for several hours. Finally around 4:00pm the contractions started up again and I made really good progress. By 6 pm I was at 8-9 cm and +1 station. At 6:20 I felt a great need to push but had a lip of cervix left, they went ahead and let me push...and I pushed for around 35 min, baby was facing up so doc had to turn him in the birth canal, his head came out and they suctioned him real good, shoulders came out and my husband got to cut the cord. They took him over to the isolet first due to the meconium, but he let out a really BIG cry so they knew he was OK. My mother was in the room and got to see her first grandchild enter the world. I tore a little, but I don't mind, this little guy's head was 15" around! apgars of 8/9/9, we were bottle feeding and he ate like a champ. We both are doing great and daddy is very proud. I am glad I did not know what i was having, the suprise was extra special.
