Next morning the consultant came round and induced me again at 9am and this time I started having contractions every five mins and spent the next few hours alternating between wandering up and down the corridor and having about five baths!! at 8pm I could no longer bear the pain so I went to the labour ward for some gas and air. Once I was down there it was discovered that I was half a cm dilated and I burst into tears as this was 27hrs after my first contractions!!!!!!!! They gave me a drip to try and speed things up but not before I had an epidural as I had had enough and I suspected this was going to end with a c section. I was right the drip caused my baby to be distressed and he passed meconium in my waters and his heart rate dropped significantly for them to rush me to theatre and he was born safe and well at 11.50pm weighing 7lb 5oz 31hrs after I had my first contraction.
