Isabella's Birth Story
My Little Princess
by: Amy

I was 23 when I got pregnant with my third baby. We were hoping so much to have a girl because we already have two boys. So when I had my ultrasound, I was elated, excited and beside myself to find out that our prayers had been answered!

My pregnancy went very well. No problems at all. My due date with her was New Years Day 2001. But I went to the doctor on December 17, and he looked at me and said, What do you think about having your baby early?"

I knew what he was getting at. I was so HUGE. My belly was so big. It was all her. The doctor was afraid that if I waited until my due date, she'd be way too big.

So that night at 6 p.m. I went to the hospital. I waited and waited. Finally I went to sleep for about 30 minutes. I was so anxious to start labor.

Around 8:30 the following morning my doctor came in and broke my water. He said, She is only 2. Oh wait, she is 4 to 5. I was so happy. I had no pain yet progressing. At that time, I had not gotten any pain medication. I didnt need it.

Finally, a little bit after he broke my water, my nurse, who had been at my other two births, insisted on my getting an epidural so that I'd never feel any pain. So I did. And I'll tell you what, that epidural was the only discomfort I had.

Three hours later I was ready. I gave five or six pushes, and there she was. My princess, Isabella Victoria, 9 pounds, 3 ounces. The doctor said if I would have waited until the due date, she would have been 11 or more pounds. Her brother was 9 pounds, 13 ounces.
