| Chloe's Birth Story I am 19 years old and mummy to 14 month old Chloe...she's a darling and I love her to bits. I first found out that I was pregnant on my 18th Birthday. A great big shock but my fiance and I got used to the idea and were quickly looking forward to it. I was told I would be due on the 10th August. I had a bad pregnancy, I swelled up like a balloon, was sick constantly and even had suspected pre-eclampsia. I put on about 4 stone in weight and went from a size 8/10 to a size 16! I'm down to a 14 now, but would prefer to be a size 12. Anyway, my due date of 10th August came and went. As you can imagine, I was seriously fed up and willing to try anything to get my baby out. I couldn't wait to meet her :0) A friend told me that sex did wonders for bringing on labour and at a loss for what else to do, we figured we may as well try it. OMG...what agony that was! It was the worst sex of my life but luckily it did the trick and I went into labour the next morning (16th August). I had an appointment with my midwife that morning, and although I had been having back pain, I thought it was just normal seeing as how big I was, so didn't bother mentioning it to her. I thought labour pains were in your tummy but mine definitely weren't. I went shopping in the town centre after my appointment and everyone I met told me I looked as though I was in labour. I brushed it off, thinking this baby would never come out lol When I got home, I went to the loo and almost passed out when I saw blood on my pants. I screamed for my mum, who had been staying with me to keep an eye on me, and she came running in and told me it was the *show* I'd had. I phoned the hospital and told them what had happened and they told me to keep track of my pains and call them when I was ready to come in. I went for a leisurely bath to relax and double checked my bag. My pains were still in my back and not coming very regularly. I got to the stage where I was crying with sheer frustration lol. At 8 pm that night I had a craving for roast chicken and we went to our local all night Asda store. They didn't have them and yep, I cried again. It was in Asda that my pains started coming regularly. At midnight, I decided it would be best to go to the hospital as my father, who was going to be driving me, had to start work early the next morning and I didn't want to get him up during the night. When I got to the hospital I was given an internal and was not dilating at all. Again, I cried lol. I didn't actually start dilating until 6 am the next morning, but the pain wasn't so bad and I managed on just gas and air. My waters still hadn't broken and the midwife eventually did it for me. Things happened really quickly after that. At 9.50 am I gave birth to my beautiful daughter. She weighed 6lbs 13 oz, a lot smaller than we thought considering the size of my bump lol. I needed no stitches and was home that night at 8 pm after the doctor had pronounced both me and bubba fit and well. It was the best experience of my life and something I will gladly do again. I can also remember that the bodies of the little girls Holly and Jessica had just been discovered. So a pleasant memory is tinged with sadness at the thought of my baby being born as those poor little girls lost their lives. I would love another child, but not soon as I want to enjoy Chloe right now and give her the best I can. Daddy and I are both University students and money is quite tight. When Paul finishes Uni then maybe I will think about it but I'm having a great time being Chloe's mummy right now. She is growing so fast and it seems like only yesterday I brought her home from the hospital. She is an adorable little girl now, hardly a baby any more. Walking at 9 months and with an extensive vocabulary for her age, she is quite a handful lol, but I wouldn't change her for the world. My birthing experience was incredibly easy and the midwife told me that most young mums have little problems. I am quite glad I started my family so young as I have more time for my daughter and a lot more energy. My mum had me when she was 18 and we are great friends. I hope Chloe and I are the same. Thanks for reading this and to anyone about to experience their first child being born...good luck! It is painful but an easily forgotten pain when you have that baby in your arms. :0) This story was written by Peachy. |
