Bayleigh and Lola's Birth stories
My first pregnancy went along smoothly, and 3 days before my due date (May 9th 2000) my waters broke at about 7am,I called my hubby (then boyfriend) back home, he was really panicking, we got to the hospital at 7.30am and at about 8.30am I started getting contractions. I went about 10 hours with no pain relief at all, not even gas and air, then, round about the 11th hour, needed some gas and air and a while later, asked for some pethidine, which I swear I will never have ever ever again! It was horrible, made me sleepy and sick. The 13th hour approached and I was examined, and was 9cm, they said to wait one more hour which I did, but the pain was really really bad, they did a further examination to find that the baby was Posterior, sunny side up, back to back, very very painful, so on the 14th hour, found myself in incredible pain, and being rushed into theatre, this was at about 10.15pm, the anethsatist was having problems getting my epidural in, I was getting contractions fast and furious now and just wanted it all over, my husband was there, he was a great support to me. The epidural was in place and they tried forceps, which failed, so they moved onto an emergency section! Not long after 10.30pm, my first beautiful daughter came into this world weighing 6lb 12 and a half ozs.

Soon after Bayleigh's birth, we decided to have another baby.I fell pregnant and suffered terribly with sickness for quite a few months, this second baby was due on March 17th 2002. From when I started feeling the baby move around inside my tummy, I knew that it was an active baby and that it wasnt going to wait until March, and would probably arrive in February, I was convinced I was carrying a boy this time as everything was so so different, the way I carried, the way I felt etc. At 36 weeks I booked my elective section due to the problems I had with my first labour, but at 37 weeks, I woke feeling not quite right, no pain, just something I couldnt put my finger on. The day progressed, I even did my shopping in Tesco, pains were getting worse and by the time my husband got home at 6pm, the pains were bringing tears to my eyes. We went to the hospital where I was put onto a moniter, midwife said I could go home in an hour, little did she know !!! At about 7.30pm my waters broke, and those all too familiar pains started. They knew I had a section booked so prepared the theatre. I was wheeled down at around 8.30pm, it took them some while to get the room ready and to contact an anaesthsetist, the epidural was difficult again, took about half an hour to get that in place, it was such a lovely and relaxed atmosphere, much more so than the first time!!!! The radio was on, everyone was talking to me, and my husband was watching the whole thing, at 8.45pm, our second beautiful daughter was born, weighing in at 4lb 15ozs, a little fighter, needed no help and was breastfeeding within an hour of being born.
