| After my previous experience I had been hoping for a natural delivery but at 34wks was told that I was measuring very big for my dates so needed to go to the hospital for a scan to check the size of the baby as I am only 4ft 11ins and if the baby is too big can cause rupture of the scar tissue. I went to the hospital and had a scan and various measurements were taken of the baby and I was told it was at least 6lb at that point with six weeks to go they worked out that the baby would be at least 9-10lb at it's due date and told me I could go ahead but there was more of a risk and I would be monitored constantly and not allowed to be mobile etc so I booked in for a c section at 39wks with the hope that I would go into labour before that. I didn't so at 7am on 19th September I went to the hospital and was given a spinal block and at 9.10am my son Archie was born weighing only 7lb 4oz so was a bit disappointed as had only had section as I thought he would be huge but it didn't matter the planned section was much better than the emergency section I felt very little pain and was up and about on the ward at half past one. I would do it all again. This story was written by Helen |
