| Dennis' Birth Story My husband and I discovered we were expecting on May 8, 1998. The doctor's said my due date was December 26, 1998. I had my first sonogram at 8 weeks and everything was perfect. While I was pregnant I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum (severe morning sickness) and was in the hospital a lot. Although I lost 40 pounds instead of gaining weight, our baby was healthy and developing perfectly. When I was 5 months pregnant the doctors did another sonogram and we found out that we were going to have a son! December 26 came and went but our son wasn't ready to arrive. When I was one week past my due date, the doctor's did another sonogram to make sure everything was still ok. Everything turned out to be fine, except that the measurements showed our son to be a BIG baby. They estimated his weight to be 11 pounds!!! The doctors did not want to take the chance of him getting stuck in the birth canal during delivery and breaking his collar bone, so they decided to do a C-Section, just to be safe. So, 2 weeks past my due date on January 6, 1999 at 9:47 am, Dennis Lynn was born! He weighed 9 pounds 5 1/2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long and he was perfectly healthy. After 4 days in the hospital we got to come home! |
