A Tribute in Honor of:
Eleanor Elizabeth Bodie
Eleanor Elizabeth Bodie, My grandmother was a loving grandmother.  She had a hard life but always kept her eyes lifted up to God.  Even now, I feel her presence when I am alone.  She withstood probably the hardest thing any of us will have to endure the loss of her children.  She always had a smile for everyone, she loved puzzles, Crossword puzzles.  Her first  bible was a gift from her church from winning a crossword puzzle contest in Sunday School.  She sent me a list of her favorite bible verses, and always included  a verse with every card or letter she wrote.  She had 4 beautiful children: Jean A. Bodie (North) (MY MOM) born November 29th 1931.

John married (Leona in Texas)(Dont have her last name)

& Sam Bodie

& Sheila K. Bodie (Sheila died a few days after birth.)Eleanor (Nana) liked me to call her "Nana" it was a term of endearment she used for her grandmother too!  In the summer when I visited her she  let my Aunt Lucille curl my hair, and spoil me.  We used to spend Sunday dinners at Clara's house and Clara's daughter "Katherine" spoiled me rotten. "Sundays boiling water to fill up a claw foot bathtub with water for me to wash in. She took me to Catholic Mass every day (noon hour), She also had a sister, Sister Mary Margaret who was a teacher and a nun. "

My uncle Sam and I would chow down on Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream (5 cent ice cream cones (double dip in Parkersburg WVA)and potato chips in the summer.

Nana always made the best of everything good or bad, I think I inherited that, she also made the bestest crabapple jelly (great for Peanut butter & jelly samwichs, and chocolate chip cookies from scratch. )  They always had a family cat, Queenie was my favorite.  Nana used to rent out the Apartment out back, to make extra money, she cleaned houses even for Aunt Ada & I got to go with her.  My mom used to babysit for family to bring home money for bread and milk. They had it rough.  My mom remembers one time her mother was hit by a car and it was a really scary time.

Eleanor Elizabeth Bodie born  February 10th, 1910 died December 22nd, 1998.  "Peace be thine"
