No, don't forget it: Engrave these words in your heart. Think of it at you, in the street, By sleeping you, by raising you; Repeat them to your children. Or what your house collapses, That the disease swamps you, That your children turn away from you." Primo Levi, If it is a man.
1994-2004. It has been already ten years since in Rwanda, in hundred days only, more than a million people(men, women, babies, children, old persons, without any distinction) were massacred on the whole territory of the country for the simple reason that they are Tutsi. For other motives, either for political opposition, or of refusal to collaborate in the crimes, or of assimilation to Tutsi, the others Rwandan as well as the foreigners (Belgian notably) were murdered. The genocide of Tutsi in Rwanda was the last genocide of the XXth century. Planned for a long time and organized essentially under the orders of "Hutu Power", this crime of the crimes against humanity took place in the shade of the international diplomacy and on war bottom of hegemonic influence between western countries which continues, besides, until today in the region of the African Great Lakes Some of these countries, such as Belgium and United States, as well as the UNO recognized partially their part of responsibility in the genocide of Tutsi or, in the case of France notably, this responsibility was revealing by independent inquiries. Nevertheless, very few concrete actions of repair are begun in favour of the surviving victims who continue to face the multiple consequences and the multiforms of the genocide, the forbidden speeches trivializing the gravity of the crime, the attempts of eclipse of the reality of the horrors which they lived as well as in the numerous attacks of making guilty of the victims by those same who committed the genocide of Tutsi and want to make it forget and erase tracks. That is why it is imperative to maintain the flame of the memory of the genocide of Tutsi to remind the Humanity that, in spite of the good resolutions and the speeches which followed the genocides of the Armenians and the Jews, there was another genocide. It is essential, to educate the future generations in the respect for the human life, to maintain this memory and to elaborate the adequate means of repression and prevention against any attempt of genocide or genocidal act. IBUKA makes its contribution to this construction of the memory through the activities of the 10th remembrance to which she invites you. ==>>>>> See the Programs
