The first ever attempt at the English
translation with exhaustive notes and commentary based on authentic original
sources and brief biographical sketches of major hadith-narrators.
The most distinguishing feature of the
translation and the explanatory notes of this work is that the translator has
taken great care to adhere to the path of the old orthodox scholars and has at
the same time tried to incorporate the modern researches in different fields of
knowledge which are valid from the Islamic point of view. This work thus
combines in itself the authenticity and
the correctness of old scholarship and the freshness of the modern

18
cm. x 24. cm. --- Pages 482.
(Deluxe Hard Binding)
Compiled during the reign of Mansur, the
second Abbasid Caliph, Muwatta' of Imam Malik is regarded as the most
authentic book on Hadith. Imam Malik passed his entire life in Medina
and, therefore, had direct access to the most reliable authorities on Hadith,
because most of the leading Companions and their Successors lived and died
there and narrated traditions. The Muwatta' is based on the traditions
narrated by them and the juristic verdicts given by them, and thus it deals
only with such ahadith as have a bearing on juristic verdicts.
The translator is a well-known scholar. He
has done full justice to the work undertaken by him. He has provided exhaustive
explanatory footnotes wherever necessary.
