RC097. Determination
of the Direction of Qibla and the Islamic Timings
By M. Bashir Ahmad Bagvi
14 cm. x 21.5 cm.--- Page 86.
This booklet is intended to provide some guidance, rather inspiration,
to the students of mathematics in general and those of engineering in particular.
One might be able to construct (circular) monograms for the direction of
Qiblah based on the determination of the azimuth. To make this work rather
more useful and self-contained, methods of calculating the correct direction
of Qiblah have been given. The longitude and latitude of any place are
given in Section V to facilitate calculations where these cannot be obtained
from any survey department. Similarly, these days when air service has
become quite common, it is of use to man to know the time at which the
sun would set so that he may offer his Maghrib prayers or break his fast
while in the air. Section VI deals with this particular aspect of the problem.
