This is the English translation of Kitab al-Ta'arruf li Madhhab
Ahl al-Tasawwuf of Kalabadhi. This is an authoritative work on Sufi
doctrine, and many commentaries were written upon it by a number of eminent
writers. The esteem in which it was held by so illustrious an author as
Suhrawardi Maqtul is indicated by his much quoted saying: "But for the
Ta'arruf
we should not have known Sufism."
