PM160. The Mysteries
of the Human Soul
By Abdul Qayyum "Shafaq" Hazarvi
14 cm. x 21.5 cm.--- Pages 93.
The question "what is the human soul?" is as old as man's appearance
on the earth. Almost every nation, each according to its understanding
and knowledge, has tried to find an answer to this question. Philosophers
and scientists have endeavoured to solve this problem. The materialistic
thinkers of the West deny the existence of any such entity as soul.
Imam Ghazali, who is one of the greatest exponents of Islam of all ages
and is rightly regarded as the Hujjat al-Islam (Proof of Islam),
has rendered a great service to the Ummah by his rational and easy
expositions, both in Arabic and Persian. He stands prominent in harmonising
reason with revelation on a rational basis, and fearlessly refutes the
heretical doctrines of some of the most eminent philosophers of his day.
In this book is presented the English translation of Imam Ghazali's
Arabic work entitled al-Madnun Bihi `Ala Ghairi Ahlihi, a treasure
of Arabic literature and one of the finest works on mystical expression.
Ghazali persuades his readers that he has cast a ray of light on the secret
places of the heart and has increased human understanding about soul.
