| This Catholic Church is located at the community of Kovar in SE Bastrop County Texas. Kovar is virtually at the dead center of the Andrew Graham Grant. Whether Sandra Bullock filmed all of the movie, "Hope Floats", in Bastrop County, I do not know. Certainly some of the filming was in Smithville - and the funeral scenes was filmed here at this church. The mother of Sandra's character in the movie unexpectedly died and her funeral took place here. The inside of the church was filmed during the memorial services. This outside frontal view was not shown, but a shot starting at the steeple and going to the front door of the church was. I think the movie was filmed in the late 1990's. This photo was taken in November 2002 when the Texas Graham Cousins had a family reunion in Smithville. Smithville was named for one of our by-marriage-kinfolks. | ||||
