Every year The Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald presents its Silver Knight Award to 15 distinguished young adults and 42 equally respectable honorable mentions. Awarded in categories that range from Art to Foreign Language to Athletics, these awards are the results of years of community service, excellent grades, and overall outstanding citizenship.

In this year's ceremony, four of these honorable mention recipients were from the IB Academy. Chris Bennett was an honorable mention in the category Art. Michael O'Connor received the honorable mention in New Media. Julia Buck was an honorable mention in Foreign Language. Lara Bueso received an honorable mention in Journalism. These students are at the top of their class in every way possible.

Each honorable mention recipient is awarded $500 and an engraved plaque plus the satisfaction of knowing they are one of the winners in one of the most prestigious award programs in the nation. The IB Academy congratulates them on a job well done. We are all proud.
