"The Class of 2003 is special because they cry, they feel, they want to make a difference," said Mrs. Amy Scott.

Every year, the IBIS Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the IB Academy, organizes the IBIS Banquet for the graduating class and recognizes students as well as teachers for their hard work and achievements. The banquet was held on Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Sofitel Hotel. It was a special event and would be the last that Mr. Greg Zawyer would attend as Principal of Coral Reef Senior High School. "Mr. Zawyer, I wish you the strength and the wisdom to make your dreams come true like you've made ours," said Mrs. Patterson.

The night began with opening statements from Mrs. Patterson and Mr. Zawyer, followed by the presentation of certificates to the graduating seniors by Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Cathy Pariser, President of the IBIS Foundation for the year 2002-2003. As each IB/IS student received their certificate, they were also given class t-shirts that read "Master Procrastinators Class of 2003" along with a special Memory Book.

Students with outstanding accomplishments were awarded at the banquet. Mark Hunsberger awarded Lara Bueso with the Prudential Spirit of Community Award in special recognition of her CAS project "4 My Students, Inc." Lara Bueso also received the Florida League of IB Schools (FLIBS) Scholarship, an award given to one IB student in the entire state of Florida. The IBIS Foundation recognized 25 students in 17 different categories for all of their exceptional achievements. "It's really great that everyone in the class of 2003 was recognized. Listening to all of the awards made me so proud to be a part of such a distinguishing class that has done a lot of community service," said Lara Bueso.

The IBIS Foundation awarded Mrs. Scott and Mr. Mahoney with the 2002-20003 IBIS Award, and Mrs. Sue Rodriguez and Mr. Greg Zawyer with special Honorary Awards. Mrs. Helena Cal was specially recognized for all of her hard work as Senior Representative of the IBIS Foundation and for being part of the Senior Banquet Committee. Mrs. Cal said, "Being part of the IBIS Foundation is a lot of work but the experience is very rewarding and no money could ever replace that. The IBIS Banquet is the night that all of the seniors deserve after four years of IB. It finalizes everything."

After all of the special recognitions were awarded, the evening ended with dinner and dancing. It was definitely a night to remember.
