| The IB organisation is a business not a government controlled organisation. 32) The IB is a business and like any business there must be costs (it has offices in Geneva, Cardiff and Singapore). It must be asked, is it not prudent and more beneficial for our children to remain with an education and examination system that is non-profit and overseen by the British government? IB is NOT as widely accepted as ESF claims it is. 33) There are over 3500 schools high schools in the UK and only 48 use the IB. 34) UCAS automatically receive A-level, A/S level, Scottish Higher, Advanced Higher, Irish Leaving Certificate, Cambridge Board Higher School Certificate and Hong Kong A-level examinations through its examination board linkage arrangements. It DOES NOT receive IB results. What does this say for which system is more widely accepted, Ib or A-level? Non-native english speakers could be put at a disadvantage. 35) The compulsory English section (30% oral) and the compulsory 4000 word "Theory of Knowledge" essay could put all non-native english speakers at a disadvantage. Finally... 36) Should the ESF still be called the ESF (English Schools Foundation) when they are claiming they want to become more international? Should it not be the ISF if we are not using an English curriculum? 37) Why has the ESF not presented in their parents meetings, pupils and teachers that are against the IB and why have they not informed us of the above weaknesses of the IB? This has made many parents, including ourselves, very sceptical and cynical about this whole matter. |
