Week Seventeen

Week Seventeen in Brief!

Friday, 5th November

Got up especially early to head off from Esquel to Bariloche. Finally, a decent film on the bus - Pirates of the Caribbean. Pity the bus arrived before the film finished! (They only started it 3 hours into the trip..odd)

Headed into town and found myself a hotel, and went for a wander around town.

Nice place, very Alpine (lots of Swiss, German and Austrian immigrants apparently) and very touristy - as you would expect for the biggest ski resort in South America.

I took some photos of mountains.

Aside from eating lots of chocolate, I ended up going to watch the Bourne Supremacy at the cinema.

Saturday, 6th November

Despite the big sign saying they were open on Saturday mornings, the museum (described in the guide book as "one of the best in the country") wasn`t actually open, so I just wandered around town a bit for a while.

Took some more photos of mountains, before deciding to go for a walk along the lake. Kind of typical - huge ski resort, and I end up sunbathing!

Spotted all the huuuuge nightclubs that are rammed all Winter long...a line-up that makes it more like Ibiza than anywhere else - somewhere to check out in the cold weather next time that I`m around!

Went to the "shopping" in the evening and found myself in the cinema again - this time watching Argentinian film Peligrosa Obsession (Dangerous Obsession). Lots of fighting, lots of explosions, and more twists than Oliver`s birthday party.

Sunday, 7th November

Spent the morning wandering around Bariloche, before getting the bus back to Trelew, via Esquel. Fifteen hours in total, with an hour off in Esquel for good behaviour.

For the first leg of the trip I found myself sitting next to a girl who was interested in the history of Trevelin book that I was reading. "Know him," she said, "and him. Him too". Small world.

The remainder of the trip was fantastically dull. Just a long time on a bus.

Monday, 8th November

Back in Trelew. Couple of hours of kip and breakfast before going to Gaiman to sort some stuff out.

Back to Trelew for lunch and to do some shopping, before getting on the bus to Dolavon to meet Valeria again and get some work done.

Then after getting back home, I went down to Karen`s house to say goodbye to her as she is off to Buenos Aires for a few weeks with her sister.

Tuesday, 9th November

Went off to Rawson first thing in the morning to get some work done and see some more museums.

Then sat down in the cyber cafe to try and concoct a progress report for my time in Argentina. Decided against just giving them the website address!

Home for tea and then back to the caff to prepare for my class tomorrow.

Wednesday, 10th November

Gave my English class on modern authors - Irvine Welsh, Douglas Coupland, Terry Pratchett and Niall Griffiths for anyone interested. Felt more like a lesson and me like a teacher than the others! Oooh. Not sure I like that.

Back to Gaiman to sort some stuff out and talk to people.

Then came down to the computer a night early for the Welsh Premier chat. I`m losing it, man, I`m telling you.

Thursday, 11th November

Got some more interviews done in the morning....well on the way to being finished on time!

Then spent the afternoon working on a submission for a conference in Cardiff next Summer and doing some paperwork for my English course at IPPI - a course outline and syllabus etc.

Finished the night by going out with Alan and his cousin for a few games of pool at Genesis.
