| MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2003 Today at track practice, I didn't do the coach's workout. I worked with another track dude that got his workout from his summer track coach. I am still a little sick. Some negative factors that contributed to today's pain are: lack of sleep (didn't get to sleep until 3:30 last night), intense hunger (all I have had to eat since 5:30 yesterday was one chicken nugget), and I haven't worked out in 3 weeks. After I finished an hour's worth of drills, we did some sprint workouts. The pain I felt was like, a sub-asthma hindered breathing. I could breathe, but it felt like my lungs didn't like the heavy breathing required. Also, since I had not eaten all day, my stomach was completely empty except for the water I had drunk. Another pain was caused by me wearing my new shoes. They did not have the arch support of my old ones, and my arch on the bottoms of my feet felt like they were about to collapse, so next practice, I am transfering the arch support cushions from old track shoes to new track shoes. The combination of it all formed a new and unique pain that only track practice can bring about. MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2003 It was an easy workout day today at track practice. I did my warm ups as usual. Today we had to run 3x30s, 3x50s, and 3x60s. Easy enough. This other guy was running with me. I was mainly focusing on driving out of the blocks, but I was also trying to stay ahead of him. On my second 60, I felt a horrible pain in my hamstring. At first, I was afraid I had pulled the muscle, but I think I just got a really bad cramp. It's about an hour later and I am still hurting. Anyway, I went by the field house where a training room is, but the stupid girls told me to go to the training room in that TAC because that was the "track" training room. They didn't even have anybody else in there. So I got back in my truck and drove over to the TAC and walked the semicircle to get to the training room. This dude stretched my leg and then attached some electrodes to my leg where the pain was so that we could flex it and work the cramp out, I guess. I wonder if he felt a little uncomfortable, because it was pretty close to my butt. I was feeling a little weird.... After that, I left, but I don't think all that stuff did any good. I hate the training rooms; especially the one in the field house where they can only work with the gay football players and baseball, and softball, and volleyball. But, oh no, not the track people. We have to go to the crappy training room in the TAC. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2003 Today, we practiced in 43 degree weather. I was suppose to be at practice at 1:15 today, but since I practice at 2:00 on Thursdays, I thought it was at 2 today, also. My group had already warmed up in the TAC by the time I got there. So I started out with them running 5x100 strides in the grass. Then we did 10x200 meters with 30 second rests in between. The wind was blowing really hard. I hadn't planned on running today because I hurt my hamstring yesterday, but I decide to go ahead and do what I could. My leg hurt the whole time, but not enough to stop me from running. Also the cold wind made my asthma start up. I'm still coughing. Anyway, after the 200s, we ran half a "hike" and then a loop. 1 hike = 1.5 miles; 1 loop = 800 meters. Practice sucked today. |
