Dr Ian Barns |
After completing a chemistry degree at the University of Western Australia, he completed postgraduate studies in education at the University of Melbourne and then a PhD in the social studies of science at Murdoch University. Ian has taught extensively in a range of interdisciplinary units, both at Murdoch and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, particularly in the area of the ethics and social studies of science and technology.

Teaching areas: Unit co-ordinator for Science and Technology in a Policy Context, Ethics, Technology and Policy; Science, Technology and Society (u/grad).
Research interests: public attitudes to developments in biotechnology; the cultural meanings of the human genome project; Christian responses to a changing public culture.
