What's a night with the guys without it?
This part of the site will deal with the different beers that pass through the Otter's Den (as well as the Otter himself). Most of us bring whatever catches our eye on any given night. Our favorites as well as reviews on new products will appear here.
Guinness
Bass
Molson
Rolling Rock
Sam Smith's
Otter's Reveiw Tops the list because it's my site and my favorite. In this day and age, most of the myths about Guinness have finally been dispelled. There is no cream in it. It does have fewer calories then Miller Lite. It is not a "heavy" beer. (Just notice how it floats on top of cider, Bass, Harp and anything else I've ever tried to layer it with) Who wouldn't be taken by the ritual (ah the pour), the rich flavor, and the smooth finish? While I prefer the kegged version, the pub draught cans are pretty good and well worth drinking during a night of MTG. Click the glass for their website
Otter's Review The crisp, mildly bitter flavor of Bass makes it a great choice for a hot summer's day. What would a Black & Tan be without it? You have to love the Red Triangle trademark, the worlds oldest registered trademark. Lessr known are the red diamond, and brown traingle, the worlds second and third oldest trademarks, also registered to Bass for other ales. The website is great with an online version of darts that is as fun and challenging as playing anywhere else.
Otter's Review One of the highest quality beers I have ever had. There are many different styles brewed by Sam and while I have only tried a few of them, I have found them to be excellent. I especially reccomend the Oatmeal Stout. The web site it clear and concise with descriptoins of each of their brews.
Otter's Review While I am generally not found of, and usually very down on most American lagers, I find Rolling Rock to easily be the best of the worst. While it does have so many of the flaws that many other mass produced American lagers have, there is something about it that appeals to me. A nice crsp flavor with no aftertaste. Best served icy cold. Cool website, which really isn't a surprise. It seems that most American breweries spend more money on advertising then they do on producing a good product.
Magic Hat
Otter's Review Magic Hat (out of Vermont) makes a number of different ales in many different styles. I recently tried the "Heart Of Darkness" oatmeal stout. A nice rich flavor, reminiscent of Guinness, but with plenty of it's own character. The website is a little weird to navigate, but very informative.
