| All fees and royalties were waived by the artists for two years from the time of release and all time and costs involved in production, promotion and distribution of the CD were donated. This meant that 100% of proceeds went to tsunami relief and restoration projects. This album may have started as my idea but it goes way beyond me...it became an amazing collaborative effort, ending up as a 15-track CD features songs from a diverse mix of artists I was working on an arrangement of the old Louis Armstrong classic What a Wonderful World. It was early January, with the aftershocks of the Boxing Day tsunami still shaking us all. The news was full of unspeakable grief, horror and ruin. But as the days went on, I found that the words of that song What a Wonderful World had never rung truer for me. Amongst the devastation, we started to see the seeds of renewed hope. We saw the amazing resilience of people in affected nations. We saw the world come together and reach out, regardless of race, creed and colour. There's restoration happening. Everyone I talked to wanted to celebrate that and to support it. And a CD started to come together. I'm in awe of the people who stepped forward so fast, so enthusiastically, so generously. The album was an amazing mix of talents and styles: vocal and instrumental; jazz, country, rock and gospel; from the mastery of some of Australia's top performers to the innocent wonder of a children's choir... Except for Track 14 (What a Wonderful World which was recorded and will only appear on this project) all the donated tracks are from previously released albums. Proceeds from sale of the CD went directly to ongoing work in the affected area via projects supervised by Youth on the Street and Surfboardriders - both working with different groups of kids in need. Projects like this don't (usually) come together over night. We've had an incredible response: from the artists, from contributors like the AGMA, Channel 9, printers, designers and so many others who've given time and talent. God's really put this on people's hearts. We've seen miracles just putting this together and with God's grace, we'll see them in the tsunami-affected areas. That's what Restoration is about. Restoration is great music for a great cause. Koorong Bookstores, the Vision Radio Network and the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (both promoting) are just some of the organisations that got behind the project, with more coming on board all the time. And then there were all the answered prayers that God would use the album to touch hearts, open hands, change lives and bring restoration.
