Ian has a Diploma of Music with additional streams in Technical Production and Music Industry Business.
As well as singing lessons at various times, Ian also undertook specific subjects and short courses at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney in jazz arrangement, vocals and performance. Ian is always looking to develop skills and new ideas through participation in various master classes such as those run by Darren Paul and Idea of North, or listening & spending time with other singers & musicians.
Ian has been fortunate to have had a fairly diverse musical background:
- jazz including solo, group and a cappella
- world music a cappella choirs
- Christian music (see other page link)
- blues, folk and covers group and solo
- choral with previous churches, Beethoven Society & Sydney Philharmonic choirs
- background session work
- intimate ballad & background atmosphere at a few restaurants
As well as performance, Ian operates a small control/mixing and mastering studio, for his own recordings and helping other artists as producer and for various recording functions..
Additionally he really enjoys imparting his knowledge and inspiring a love of music in others and has taught guitar, vocals, vocal ensemble and music industry business courses.
