I'm afraid to get caught in the cross-fire. Mods: don't get so defensive. Listen to what the others have to say. If they're being stupid, ignore them. Everyone else: don't be so hard on the mods. They're just trying to do their job. |

Hmm, perhaps this new person, Mandy is actually Lisa pretending to be Christian pretending to be Red Quacker pretending to be where'sSaavik? pretending to be Mandy. you never know. Don't worry Mandy. There's been an explosion of invective on the higher trafficed forums and the frustration from those areas is just making its way into here. It's a phase. After VOY's finale the board will quite down a little, the current batch of newbies will get used to the give and take, people will calm down. Criticism of the Mods/Admins runs in cycles. It won't be long until QSF turns back into a relative ghost town with only DEA and I. Me nitpicking and him rolling his eyes. . . . ah, the more things change, the more they stay the same. ------------------ "Look Lois, the two symbols of the Republican Party: an elephant, and a fat white guy who is threatened by change." -The Family Guy Where is Saavik? |

Actually I personally like this recent change in the atmosphere of Suggestions+. For the first time in a good while, this forum is a vast landscape of serious debate and interesting conversations that means a lot to all of us. I've been very disappointed at TNZ as of late, which is having a spell of diverse sexual innuendo, far to extreme political debates, the general anti-American sentiment. Here we have still have real discussion with well educated people in every corner that don't need to say 'fuck you' every post to get a point across.. |

There's an old saying: "Don't put all your chickens in one basket."No sorry, its "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." However, that has little impact on this discussion. Interpret it as you will. originally posted by Mandy: quote: I'm afraid to get caught in the cross-fire. Mods: don't get so defensive. Listen to what the others have to say. First, let me say I share your fear of the fighting. It can be a dangerous and potentially fatal exercise to traverse this forum. But for people like myself, that fear, that edge makes it worthwhile. Without the risk involved there is no pleasure to be taken from any of it.But wait, as I look deeper into your post I see you are trying to stay on the fence. Stay neutral! You must understand that there are to be no compromises or open hands of peace in this sordid affair. Since it's inception there has remained one, undeviating constant on this BBS: moderators vs normals. The moderators are not your friends, make sure you understand that now. They are the sworn enemy who must be knocked down from their pedestals. Look around, do you think we'd have half the problems we do now if they weren't in our midst? Their authority is not required, but they impose their reigme upon us innocent cyber-dwellers. Say no to moderators, Mandy. Spit in their faces and curse every decree they try to hand down to you. Moderators, self appointed guardians of the BBS. Hmph... [This message has been edited by StarMan (edited April 12, 2001).] |

TNZ goes though cycles. Read through the old threads. Sometimes it is full of nothing but interesting discussion, sometimes it is full of sex threads. LAst sex phase was back in August. I guess people are getting horny again.
In its early days, it was all debates over religion and homosexuality. Later it was politics. If goes through cycles. In a few weeks, there won't be any sex threads. Everyone will be on to something new. oh, and phoenixfire TNZ was created specifically for heated debate and topics not appropriate to Misc. It was loud and boisterous in there from the beginning. It wasn't meant to be tea and crumpets by design. It has evolved and changed over time -- again, it is cyclical. Flame wars and sex threads come and go, the interesting debate is a constant.

Threads in TNZ seem to be a lot more prone to mutation than threads in other forums. I've noticed that most "popular" threads have diverted away from the original topic at least to some extent by the 15th or 20th post... Take a look at the IHOP thread, who would have guessed such an innocuous topic could turn into a raging flame war, or the "Your prayers..." discussion, which quickly transformed into a debate on the significance of prayer and the differences between deistic and theistic interpretations of religion.Looking back over old posts from time to time, I haven't really noticed any decline in thread quality between now and say a year ago. There have been a lot of new people lately, it might just take a while for us to find a "niche" on the board and for things to get interesting again. |

Something new, Detective? I thought you said it went in cycles. This means we'll be going back to debates over religion and homosexuality. Nothing new, just the old topics rehashed over and over and over and over again. As I said, TNZ has fizzled out. |

It always amazes me the hypocrital pinheads who run around crying "bad flame war bad flame war" while at the same time running from thread to thread throwing little flame bombs. Is it an act or are you really this duplicitous IRL. |
