Star Wars May the force be with you. The force is a concept of something more than Christianity and was my first introduction into the mysteries. The dark and light side of the force is something I think we all struggle with bringing into balance both inside ourselves. It is true for me and I also think that the way the force is done is concievably possible.
The Matrix How do you tell the dream world from the real world? I saw this movie 11 times in the theater and numerous times on DVD and video. I am obsessed. Neo's journey is mine. There is such truth in so many parts of this movie. There are so many people that don't want to be freed from the system and will fight to maintain it. MMmmm I may have to do a whole page on the Matrix alone to explain it all.
Powder Powder is a movie about a boy who has extrodinary powers due to being hit with lightning before birth. There are some truths to how he sees people and how I do. My first story was of getting hit by lightning and getting powers, powder would have been what happed to me. But it's only a story... right?
City of Angels The opening scene of this movie IS my first near death experience as a child. It freaked the HELL out of me. It changed my life this movie. The voices were what it was like on a small scale when I first broke out psychicaly speaking. At the end of the movie it was all I could do to keep from bawling uncontrolably. As I walked out of the movie I asked myself in my own mind,"What are the chances that that movie was just for me? That that movie was meant for me? What are the chances?" At that exact moment a little boy & his mom walked past me and the boy said to his mom,
"Mom the chances of that are a Gazillion to one." As if the boy answered my own mind. I stopped grabed Lellyn and bawled right there. I realized many things that day but the greatest thing was that my natural allergies no longer served me. Since that day I have not had an attack like the ones that have given me near death experiences and was able to return to VA for my grandmothers funneral in the height of a summer that would have otherwise sent me to the emergency room. Thank you Shehe. I got the message.
Harry Potter The books and movie really are doing something amazing. It's giving those who are Pagan the chance for people to be curious about them rather than being persecuted. I have been in a Harry Potter ritual and for the Pagan kids we did a traveling Hogwarts and built wands and showed the kids how to use them. Imagination IS magick, and Harry Potter is the perfect example of this. Weather he realizes it or not he has opened the door for reall witches and wizards everywhere, just like me.
Lord of The Rings Again books and movie are both those epic things which capture the imagination. Mine especially. For me the journey of the hero IS our journey, is my journey, your journey. I love Joseph Camble's views on that. But I have a kinship with the creators of such worlds like middle earth. I think they are real places somewhere out there in the multiverse and we tap into them and either co-create them, or think they are our ideas, but they are just a reality we have tunned into. I am not the only writer to think that either. What do you think?
Atlantis This Disney movie the first time I saw it sent me into this HUGE download from the universe. I am sure I have had a past life in Atlantis. I was doing this role playing game at the time and it tied into these pyramids and the 12 players and the history of the world. Well it was an exhilerating catalyst. For me the movie was profound, not just for itself but what it triggered inside of me and the connection to the universe. What I most connected with were the cuniform writings. I most connected with them and have even seen them floating in the air glowing blue white. Cool huh?
As more movies come to mind I will put them down. For me the movies ARE church. I seem to commune with the greatest part of my imagination there and I tend to come out high on God...
